It was nice to see the Cowboys win but after about 6 and 1/2 quarters of playing good football it looks like Vinny has started playing like Vinny (he is leading the league in passing yards though...), luckily Garcia was feeling generous as well. Cowboys really need a find a running back though, I know it's still early but Julius Jones didn't look very good. If he doesn't shape up quick they REALLY messed up that draft (Stephen Jackson has looked good the few times I've seen him run and I think Kevin Jones and Chris Perry are both going to be good backs).
It was also nice to see Kurt Warner (Iowa boy!) play well yesterday. He's a had a rough go of it the last couple years so it's good to see him put together a couple solid starts. |

Jones is out with an injury at least four weeks if not more, but i agree they do need to find a more consistent runner. No telling, but lets see how it goes against Redskins....

The Lions real test is this week, the eagles! As for jones. Yeah, he'll be a solid back. But he hasn't shown any signs of being a threat. I think hes gonna run better and better week to week. I dont know why, i just feel like the more he experiences the better he will get.

The Cowboys will probably use three or four RB's before the year is out, maybe even one that isnt on the team at this time, im sure they are checking around somewhere for an emergency seeing as Eddie George is pretty much done... Hey hows about those mighty Vikings? Eagles whipped em big time... Daunte Culpepper has fumbled more than any quarterback in history, i dont think a Super Bowl quarterback would do that....

Culpepper is a pigeon, this is true. The game was actually a lot closer than people give credit. An inch farther on that goal line fumble has the Vikings leading 13-10 at halftime. Also, Owen's long TD catch should've been called back. Regardless, neither offense looked too hot in my opinion and since I picked the Eagles to win, I really can't complain, although obviously I would've preferred seeing Minnesota pull out the win.
Going back to Culpepper, I've honestly never been very high on him. He's athletic and has a great arm, but he lacks poise and intelligence in almost all aspects of the game. There's very few quarterbacks that really stand out in my opinion. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are probably my top choices, with McNabb and Vick coming close after. I'll still take the Vikings in the NFC North division over the Packers and advancing to the NFC Championship game where they'll probably face the Eagles for a rematch.

Its interesting to see how Culpepper chooses to run with the ball in one arm, even after he had fumbled and lost that first fumble he continues to carry the ball in just one arm, its like Christmas day gift giving time. This next Sunday will be huge for Detroit, chance to see how good they are heheh....

Apparently dispite being huge Culpepper has really small hands which, along with the fact that he tends to not take very good care of the ball as you mentioned, leads to lots of fumbles. It's actually one of the big issues that prevented a lot of teams from taking him higher in the draft than they did. I still think he's a very good QB, but he probably could be a lot better if he used his head more at times. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing him line up under center for the Cowboys.
I agree with what you said about very few impressive quarterbacks in the league Matt, although I think I'd throw Chad Pennington and Matt Hasselbeck in with the ones you mentioned. There are a number of promising young quarterbacks in the league though like Carson Palmer, Byron Leftwhich, and David Carr. I also think the rookies Manning, Rothlesberger, and Rivers, ( and Henson...please God?), will be good some day. |

Well, today is the lions first test. They play the eagles, if they win they will be getting alot of credibility. If not, well, I think thats kind of expected. But, GO LIONS!

Redskins are a ways off, obviously, and wow, KC actually won a game, where did that come from? So far the league is kinda taking shape, still we will have a better idea around Thanksgiving, as ive said a time or two in the past, that is a little over half the season and most teams will have shown what they got to offer.........
