They probably don't "degrade" the film, they may simply not add anything to it. I'm not sure, I haven't had time to watch it yet myself. As if it's worth it or not - are extra and extended scenes, as well as countless hours of documentaries and extras worth it for you? (are you a big enough LOTR fan more specifically?)....you gotta consider those before making the decision.

There's an extra scene with the Ghost Army which IMO is completely unnecessary.

I think it would have been better for the scene to end where the Ghost appears behind Aragorn then the next time you see them is when they attack from the black ships leaving you in suspense as to whether they'll help to save the day or not.

Some scenes in the EE do break the flow of the movies, and some of them are ackward in the context of the movies. While they do add to the story, they add little to the movies. I'm sure the ROTK:EE is no different.

Don't get me wrong. The film is bloody brilliant but there are just one or two scenes we just didn't need.
