Default Blair survival *politics thread*

I know we've had a few threads about Bush and the coming US elections and I was just wondering what you thought Blair's chances of survival were at the next general elections.

I have a feeling that he'll manage to wing it and just keep in power as the oposition just isn't strong enough.

I used to hate Blair and Labour but since the war I don't think he's so bad. I still hate Labour though

EDIT:::

We hear quite a lot about American politics. What do you guys and gals get to hear about ours?

Do like your canadian fellows. If the opposition sucks, and the leading party sucks, then kick em into minority.

We hear about British politics once and a while, not more than in France. Personally I don't give a crap about either country's politics, but since both of our major cultures are originated from those countries, alot of people have interest in them. Especially loyalists (for British news) and separatists (for France news).

But as I said, I don't care. I stick to my own country's crap, mostly. I don't need more.

I dunno why, I just always liked him. Guess because he's a good communicator. We dont' have a good communicator leading our country. (Oh did I say that)

I think Blair has a very good chance, simply because the opposition at this time is nothing more than a very vocal minority, and assuming that politics is at least somewhat similar over there as it is here, many of the vocal minority are either unable or unwilling to vote for any change anyway, making their protest for naught, and thus laughably pathetic to begin with.

I personally like Labour, and had I been able to vote in the last election I would have voted for them. If I do vote in the next election then it will probably be for Labour, but I'm still not sure about that yet. I can't think of any current party that I'd be thrilled to see in power, but Labour are perhaps the best of a bad bunch.

The general election certainly could be interesting this time round. The way Blair's government has lied and spun things to get exactly what they want has left a lot of Labour supporters feeling like they can't trust him and are forced to vote for another party (usually the Liberal Democrats).

The Conservatives (the main opposition) are still a mess. Generally they're seen as a bunch of stuffy old man who don't give a damn about the little people and are solely concerned with helping the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, but at the minute they're trying to move away from that and have managed to lose a lot of their identity. Things have improved for them slightly since they replaced Hague with Howard, but at the minute most of their policies seem to come about on the spur of the moment.

The Liberal Democrats have done pretty well out of all this, gaining votes from ex-Labour supporters and sometimes beating the Tories. I don't see the Liberals turning themselves into an electable party by the time of the next general election, but they just might be able to push ahead of the Conservatives.

I reckon Labour are probably going to stay in power next time round, and by the election after that Blair will have stepped down and been replaced with somebody else (probably Gordon Brown).
