WinXP and Mac 8.6 Networking?

Okay, I'm really not sure if any of you have any ideas if or how this will work, but if you do, help would be great.
My dad just bought a used iMac with OS 8.6, just for a cheap internet computer. I was thinking I'd be able to use Windows XP Pro's internet connection sharing to trick it to let the Mac connect through my computer through a crossover CAt5e cable.
I have no idea how to achieve this, asside from I have it setup to share on the XP pc. I don't know how to/if i can setup the Mac to connect to it.
Anyone that can help?
