Anyone who doesn't believe in the death penalty should think about shit like this. Some people truly are evil and truly deserve to have their own lives taken away.

Sadly, that will always happen in a manner far less violent than they took another's.

I always hear people saying life in prison is worse than the death penalty. I begin to wonder how true that is. Whoever did this is downright sick, and deserves the worst punishment.

The "life in prison is worse than the death penalty" is the biggest logical contradiction ever created.

Most people who oppose the death penalty do so on the grounds that death is a "cruel and unusual punishment" prohibited by the government. They talk about how it's not about justice, it's about revenge, and that we're not barbarians, we're civilized people, blah blah blah...

And then at the end, they tack on, "besides, life in prison is worse than death anyway".

Well wait, cupcakes, if that's true, then isn't life in prison also "cruel and unusual" and thus prohibited by the government? I mean, where do you draw the line at what constitutes "cruel and unusual"? Apparently for you, life in prison crosses that arbitrary line, and yet you advocate it anyway.

Those of us who advocate the death penalty don't feel that death crosses that line. We think it's just perfect.

So, while you can't say that either side is factually right, you can say that one side of this argument is logically superior.

The thing that I don't get is this; What's wrong with doing something cruel and unusual to someone who has done something as cruel as decapitating little kids? Honestly, they have more than earned their claim to it.

The argument is that we're supposed to be "above" such things.

It is a tricky concept, though, because you don't want Sharia law, like they have in many countries in the mid east and Africa. There, you steal and they cut off your hands, you lie and they cut out your tongue. Guess what happens when you rape someone.

At some point, you have to draw a line and decide when 'cruel and unusual' lies. I see nothing wrong with beheading the person/s who killed these kids, but I do see something VERY wrong with cutting off a man's hands. I've actually seen a video of a man having his hands and feet cut off. It was absolutely horrifying. Worst thing I ever saw.
