I really should give Carrabba more credit. There's a handful of Dashboard songs that are alright in my books. Aside from him being a dwarfish backstreet boy, my main gripe with him is simply that I think the quality of his music was at a much higher level when he was the lead singer of Further Seems Forever. He used to have an edge. "The moon is down", "Snowbirds & Townies", and "New Year's Project" are all amazing, but it seems to me that nowadays nearly every song he writes that has potential to be great is wussified for good measure. There's something about that voice that doesn't sit well with me.

I know Dashboard did have a show last year at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium on the U of M campus, still reletively small in comparison to the Target Center. A few of my friends went to it, all saying it was one of the best live acts they'd seen.

The Get Up Kids put on a solid performance. I saw them at the Triple Rock Social Club in March. They even broke out into some "Milkshake" during an interlude. Those guys are total alcoholics. When they first came out an occasional beer break was taken maybe every 3 songs. By the end of their set most of them were drinking while they played.

Edit: And as far as emo goes, I choose to not acknowledge that word in the context as a genre of music. People toss around that term all the time and it's hardly labeled to the music consistently. Weezer, Get up Kids, Dashboard Confessional, and Sunny Day Real Estate have all been catagorized as emo before.

First of all, Papa Smurf didn\'t create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel\'s evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village, but the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn\'t happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don\'t even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That\'s what\'s so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What\'s the point of living if you don\'t have a ****?

I'd say those bands all fit the genre (haven't heard sunny day real estate).
