Grr...I spend at least $10 everytime I go to work. $3 for train ride, the rest for food.

I VERY MUCH doubt that the cost of living is HALF of what Arnold has. It may be less, but not by THAT much.

Fact of the matter is this: people working the floor at retail stores aren't gonna make much. Like Arnold said, even the managers make a low wage. You all must realize that hardly any job pays what it's actually worth (we've all heard the comparison of teachers' wages vs. professional athletes' wages - the wages are determined by markets, not by what each 'deserves').

I agree, Arnold - any job dealing with the public is very trying. There are a lot of 'difficult' people out there. Like Ryan said, though, you'll probably end up someplace better.

I think most of us have worked jobs like this. Looking back, I'm glad to have had the experience of working in jobs I didn't like (for a variety of reasons). It makes where I am now that much more tolerable. Gives you perspective. When you make your first million, you can look back and be that much more thankful...

Sounds like this is your spring board for something you've had up your sleeve, anyhow. Good luck.

Actually, to clarify things up Arnold, I have full knowledge of what it's like to work reatail, THAT'S WHAT MY JOB IS, and that's what I've been doing for 2 years now. I know that you have to put up with hopeless people, and I hate cleaning up the messes customers create. I know about the the long shifts standing on your feet, that's what I do, walk around all day. So yes, I DO know where you're coming from, which is why I was comparing wages. And Farfus, you do make a good point by bringing forth the subject of living costs. Where I work, it's a 15min. walk away, and I also use my parents car, which saves me A LOT of money. But I do agree with you Arnold, as retail employees, we get UNDERPAID substantially for the crap we have to put up with.
