Default New York or bust!

Yes, dammit its even in my sig...

Ok, now that you've had the time to absorb that, I'll ellucidate.

You see, ever since I was a young boy, which till now, incidentally, equals almost twice the age of some of the members here, I've always wanted to live in New York. About the age thing -- I know, you don't have to say it out loud!

Anyway, NY has always been a major part of why I still try to accomplish anything in life. I've been to California (shot a Pepsi ad there when I was 18), but I've never been attracted to the life there. NY has such a culturaly diverse and life-giving atmosphere that I couldn't help but try and get as much info about it as I could from magazines, TV, movies, books, people who've lived there and still do, etc...

I've felt like a part of me has been missing for a very long time and I now know what that is. I need a change, and it will start once I leave Milwaukee for NY. I don't know what part of NY I want to be in, however, I do know that I'm definitely going. NYC looks pretty damn cool, especially from the pics that Arnold gave me.

Getting a job shouldn't pose much of a problem for me, because I've pretty much done everything you can think of -- seriously.

I've been an actor, singer (don't ask), model, Jr and High school teacher (currently), printer, painter, carpenter, machinist, bartender, food service/caterer, retail sales, store manager, administrative assistant, receptionist, technician, Web master, writer/journalist (college), counselor (currently), fast food employee (various), dish washer, waiter, and a lot of "other" jobs I'm not proud of, and some I can't disclose.

I also am not averse to a pay cut. I've pretty much mapped out the last year planning the event for the end of this year, however, any hitch will only set me back till June '05. That is my deadline as I'll be moving whether I'm ready or not. This is why my sig will remain with that phrase until I do move.

So I hope to post with you all from my new dwelling sometime in '05. Thanks for hearing me out, peace.

If you make the move to NYC...you will most likely not regret it. As long as you settle in a nice neighborhood, you'll enjoy your new found life. New York City beats the pants off of any Californian city. And once the move is complete, we can begin our work on the project...hopefully.

I'd suggest living in either Brooklyn or Queens, they are closest to the city, or you can always be like Goosh and live in the city.

Arnold and I live in Queens.

Dude we should all move to New York!! (well, all the cool people, you know who you are.)

We could start our own game production company....I got 5 on it.

In all seriousness though, I hope your plans work out for you...I myself also have plans, but for the opposite coast....my move back to Seattle....goddamn I miss that city.

LMAO@Nice digs!

I'm just hoping to find an affordable apartment. I've heard that some studio apts can go for more than $400/m. I'm thinking of living out of my car the first few months, which is why I'm saving so much money. I'm also reserving a safe deposit box at the closest post office and I may think about transferring my accounts to a local bank.

I really don't mind camping out in the beginning because I'll probably be wandering the streets video-taping everything I see and e-mailing video back home to my brothers and mom. My mom's scared of NY; she used to be a stewardess, very beautiful woman. She's been there a few times and has told me about it, however, she was a tourist for the most part. I have an aunt named Rose (really southern name), who was in the military, and she lived in NYC for two years.

New York has always seemed to me to be a really cool place to live....being from Seattle, I got the hang of big city life. I've never been there, and I want to go there sometime as a tourist.....

But for me, home is Seattle....There's just something about seeing the Space Needle every day that kicks ass.

Not only that...but Washington as a whole I think is the greatest state...because you have the huge city of Seattle on one side, and on the other you have huge amounts of wilderness to go to......most beautiful place I've been....and I've covered just about the entire west side-to middle of the country.

Nice!

My travel has been almost non-existent save for the necessary times I had to go to California. The only other places I've been as a tourist is Chicago, but I can go there anytime due to the distance so that's really blah.

I'm not visiting NY though, I'm moving there.

Seatle sounds like a great place to live, and I've heard good things about the city, however, NY will be my home for a variety of reasons, most of them entertainment related. There's a lot I cannot accomplish here or in Chicago that I can in NY.

As for why i believe NYC is so unique, is because not in any other city will you find such a diversity of people.

I don't know about that...Seattle is pretty diverse in it's people. Name an origin of people, and I'm sure they live there. Name a group of people....goths, preps, etc. And they are in Seattle.

One thing I think Seattle has more of than anywhere else though....Hippies.....LOTS of hippies.

Cause Washington has the best climate for growing weed, hence, it has the best weed.
