Well, our basketball season is over...

Our season has come to an end, and we came in 4th place in the whole province, out of 150 teams, for the Grade 9 level. We barely snuck in the regional championships, coming in 6th place, where the top 6 get in.

For the Provincial draw, if you win your first game, you go to the winning side of the draw, you lose, you go to the losing side of the draw.

We came in to the Provinicial championships in 14th place, and boy, did we have some upsets! In our first game, we defeated the 3rd ranked team, and in the second, we beat the 5th ranked team, sending us to the semi finals. Unfortunately, we lost that game, so we played another game for 3rd and 4th. We lost that game too, but still, 4th out of 150 teams is not too shabby!

There were also some different competitions, like a dunk contest (where they lower the hoop to 9'3), 3 point contest, and a 2 ball contest, just like the NBA All Star weekend, and I was lucky enought to compete in the 3 point contest. It started with 32 competitors, and they narrowed it down to 8. Out of 20 points (3 shots from each position, the first 2 shots worth 1 point, the last one worth 2), I managed to get 13, which was 2nd place for that round. Unfortunately I didn't have much time to warm up in the next round (which was another day), so I didn't do too well in that round. Even so, being in the top 8 3 point shooters in the entire Province is a pretty big honour.

Just thought I'd fill you in on the end of our season and how our team did.

hey, not to brag, but I think if my schools basketball team wins their next game, they're going to play in the state playoffs. they had a game yesterday, and that was exciting. also one of the players on our team had a dunk during one of the regular season games, and they sent a copy of the play into this show they call "channel one" and he got on TV for that shows play of the week, I think it was national TV. so that was pretty cool. has anyone here ever seen that show?

Haha, you guys have that Channel One shit at your school too? The retarded news program "designed for High school students." We have to watch it in study halls in crap and it's extremely gay, although be did make the "Play of the week" once for football....

Were you guys the one with the reverse dunk? Not to diss you or anything but that was pretty gay. I see reverse dunks all the time. I can't do one, but I can't do any, I ain't tall.

i don't know what type of dunk it was, but i'm in minnesota, they said the name the day it was on. well if you guys think the show gay thats your idea, but it was kind of cool that a kid from my school got on TV.

I'm not saying that it's not cool that he dunked but I've seen better dunks, and yes from high school students. If it was a 360, then it'd probably been a pretty good play of the week. I've dunked before, but the rim needs to be lowered to like 9 feet.

Maybe you guys should come to Jersey where the basketball is top notch and dunks are not rare. And by the way, you dont need to be tall to dunk, its all about athleticism.

Exactly. I'm 5'9 1/2, and i can touch the rim (a fair amount of it too). It just depends on how hight you can jump.
