I hate putting the clocks forward!

I didn't really feel the difference yesterday but this morning it was a killer getting up at 6:15 as it would have been 5:15 last week

I felt like my head was coming off!


I don't know why we bother changing it. it was already getting light in the mornings and evenings and now the've made it so it's dark again when I get up.

I thought we were supposed to change our clocks on April 4? (according to my roommates calendar)
Does Europe have different DST dates as us Americans?

I didn't realise it but we must do it on different dates.

I've always thought we should do what George Carlin says....put the clock forward a half hour...and the leave them the **** ALONE!!!

I like putting the clock forward. The sun lasts longer. I don't understand the reasoning behind it, though.

Isn't that the reasoning? So more daylight is in the afternoon? I remember I had a day in science where we went over DST, the origin of it, etc.

Yeah, it sucks for me, because I have to go to church on Palm Sunday, so I lose an hour of sleep PLUS another hour due to DST.

DST is not a scientific thing at all. From what [I think] I can remember, it was for economic reasons. I'll look it up just to be sure.

The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. Countries have different change dates.

Studies done by the U.S. Department of Transportation show that Daylight Saving Time trims the entire country's electricity usage by a significant, but small amount, of less than one percent each day with Daylight Saving Time. We save energy in both the evening and the morning because we use less electricity for lighting and appliances. Similarly, In New Zealand, power companies have found that power usage decreases 3.5% when daylight saving starts. In the first week, peak evening consumption commonly drops around 5%

Most people don't complain about DST, because most people like the idea of being able to have more sunlight later in the days. People can stay out later to do more activites.

i dont like it because
A- it makes me get up earlier, and
2- in Alaska during the summer we get 19 hours of sunlight a day anyway.
