I don't have any real problems with my hotmail accounts, I just set the junk mail filter to "exclusive" and it works like a charm.

Where did you get thouhat out of my post? I don't like the paying for email either way. And definately not setting a limit. I mean think of a website like ESPN or a business like dell. Both would pay TONS to send out more than 10 emails a day.

I didn't get that out of your post. I simply stated my counter-plan to Bill Gate's idea, which, IMO, would work much better. I don't like the idea of paying for email after 10 sends, but comparing it to EVERY single time, it's definitely the better idea.

I just find it wrong that you criticize my idea without providing a better option, or comparing it with options we already have.

Here's what I do:

I have two email addresses. The first, I always use when signing up for junk on the internet. The other I only give to my friends. If you never give your email address out, you won't get any junk mail. It's worked perfect for me. Everytime I check my junk mail address, it's completely piled up with all kinds of crap. I very rarely get any junk in my actual address.

I agree that email should be free. Companies already pay a monthly fee for their domain name for email accounts, they shouldn't have to pay extra for however many emails they send.

I know spam can be annoying but I've had some good emails come through that way from companies I would never have though to look for.

My www.fool.co.uk introduction came through as spam and now I couldn't live without it.

Technically e-mail is not free. When you pay for your domain you're paying for the e-mail as well, same goes for paying for your isp, your e-mail is included but you are paying for it. Though some e-mails are free like hotmail or yahoo, they only give you a certain limit of space and if you would want more you need to pay for it.

Now as for Junk Mail Filtering it doesn't always work as well as you would want it to. Though some domains it blocks other i cannot allow it to block like hotmail domains because some of my friends have hotmail accounts, though most of the Junk Mail it does filter out itself, there is still a couple few that it won't filter out and that really pisses me off.

In a little over a month i filtered 286 Junk E-mails and then there are some that come to my e-mail that were not filtered and i would say approxamitly 50 of them were not filtered.

Now it's amazing how much junk mail i got in a matter of 1 month. I think something needs to be done about Junk Mail. I believe that if i had to pay an extra $5 for e-mail per month to stop all of the annoying junk-mail i would do it and i think it's perfectly fair.

That's what I meant. They shouldn't have to pay extra for sending emails as they've already paid domain names.

I never get much junk mail (Thankfully) so it's not really a problem yet but I can see where you're coming from D'.

I have a hotmail account and I'd be pretty peeved if every time I logged on I had to wade through a load of junk mail to get to the proper emails.

Where you inbox size is limited I can see why people would pay for filters.

Maybe the government should make unsolicited emails illegal?

Good point. I never really thought about it. However, to charge extra(which is what i think he wants to do) is absurd.

Again, does anyone think this shines bad on Microsoft or Bill Gates?
