Taken from usatoday.com

"Controversy continued Wednesday when Lovingway United Pentecostal Church in Denver put up a marquee sign outside the church saying, "Jews killed the Lord Jesus." The Anti-Defamation League issued a statement of outrage after asking the pastor to remove the sign. He refused."

The people involved with posting that message are clearly ignorant.

It's appauling how many church organizations do not know exactly what the Bible says...

It's also amazing that many people don't know that Jesus was Jewish.

I don't understand how people wouldn't know he was Jewish. It's only after his death that Christianity arose and the New Testament was written. After this, you have to decide for yourself if the word of God was to put your faith in Jesus and that He is God's son, or that everthing written is false.

People's ignorance around this is pathetic. God needs to smite that church.

I'm telling you people are getting stupider and stupider everyday, especially in my school.

You would think a Church would have at least some grasp of basic Christian concepts like the fact that the whole religion is BASED around the idea of his death and resurrection. According to Christianity he came to earth to teach and then die, it was planned from the begining. If he wasn't killed then there would be no Christianity, so really why be angry at those that killed him?

Exactly.

There's a local pastor here in Montana that was quoted in the newspaper as saying (in total contradiction to his church's mission statement, according to one of the church members) that his church believes the message of Jesus as Saviour is more important than the Scriptures, which are not to be taken literally.

My question: what does he base his belief in Christ as Saviour on if NOT THE SCRIPTURES???

All of this ignorance stems from the natural laziness of humans. So-called Christians are no different than the rest of humanity (ie - lazy). If all self-proclaimed believers in Christ would take the time to ACTUALLY READ THE BIBLE - ernestly seeking to know God - then almost all of this ignorance would vanish.

But I hold no such hopes for the immediate future.

The Passion surpased Return of the King this past weekend for the highest 5 day grosse with $125 million, while RotK had around $117 I believe....that's intense.

I don't think it's the sort of film I am bothered about seeing.

I find the idea that any one single person, or entire race or religous group of people for that matter were or are responsible for the death of Jesus. Any person who claims to be a Cristian should at least have enough knowledge of the scriptures to know that "No man took his life, he gave it freely of himself." You could have lined up the ****ing dirty dozen, and he still wouldn't have been killed unless he chose to die, according to that scripture.

Never mind the fact that all these people who are so misinformed as to think that the Jews were responsible for his death are now breathing fire at Jews today. This is both ridiculous and totally based in some more deep seeded problem. I have a hard time with anyone who claims a religion based on love, and still clings to irrational hate of anyone. I'm no model Christian, but I know enough to know that if Jesus was here, the last thing he'd do would be put up a sign outside his church blaming Jews for his death. That's ****ing retarded.
