Default Modchipping/Piracy Questions

How many members here have consoles that are currently chipped to play import or backup video games? If so, which ones and what mods?

How many members have had consoles that were modded to play games in the past? If so, which ones?

Have you ever purchased/obtained a 'pirate' console (ie. Game Axe, Game Station) or a development console (ie. Yaroze PS2 TOOL system)?

Never. Though I'm considering modding my Xbox and putting a bigger HD in it...

Videogame pirates are the bane of this industry, and personally I hope they all either die of gonorhea and rot in hell or get busted by the cops and rot in jail. If you don't have the money to pay for something, be a man and DON'T steal it.

I want to know if the PS2 doesn't require a mod chip to play copy games, or do you need a mod chip for it.

Because, once I made a copy of a PS1 game (NFS:High Stakes) and pop it to my PS2 and didn't work. I want to know guys.

My advice to you, Stanley, is to buy the games you want to play, instead of trying to play illegal copies.

My mate got his PS2 chipped recently, I told him not to but he just didnt listen. They changed the second edition PS2s so they cant be chipped that easily, but he still managed to get it done.

I agree that using the a modded console to play illegal copies is indeed a federal crime but mods are the least expensive way for many gamers to play imported software or even playtest homebrew titles made with assembly. The whole idea behind a modchip is to allow the buyer to play imports without shelling out for another console.

Mods are like guns; they can be used for good (to play imports and legally backup the software you own) or bad (to play games that have been downloaded from a FTP and burnt to CDR). It all in how you use it.

Hi.It's been a long time since I posted here.I just wanted to say that if you had a original PSX that came out when the PXS was first released you wouldn't need a mod chip.I had a original psx and I learned about a trick with a spring to play import game with my US psx without moding my psx.I used the trick and it worked.I took advantage of it and got Tekken 2 four months before the US version came out.I also played DBZ:Final Bout too.I ended up selling my psx and never played a psx again.
