I know that this is the attitude Conan came in Canada with, and it was a purely ignorant attitute. He got implicated into something he had no clue about. He opened a political wound that's been plaguing it since its foundation, a wound that had been opened by another ignorant big mouth less than 2 weeks ago. So stop deciding what matters or not in a country that is not yours.


And according to this forum's rules, this should be closed. I'll leave it open because none of you realize what I'm saying... Would someone have done a thread about tasteless Black People or Jewish jokes, it would have been closed.

1) I brought it up in the first place.

2) It was done on purpose to raise a point : we don't get involved in internal American problems, I don't see why you should.

3) I wasn't using it in a more offensive way that Triumph ever was. I just used the words commonly used to ridicule certain ethnics.

I must be lost. Since when is French-Canadian a race? Doesn't it mean you speak French and/or are a descendant of a French ancestor and you inhabit Canada? With this reasoning in place, couldn't a person of ANY race be a French-Canadian? I simply must be missing something.

Some of it's funny; some of it's stupid and irresponsible. Lots of comedy is hit or miss that way, and although I suppose I'm not qualified to say whether the defensiveness here is justified, I can say without a doubt that you overreacted, Burn. You owe Rick an apology for insulting his intelligence (and disturbing that very fragile peace), and you owe an apology to the forum at large for your comparison. I'm obviously not a French Canadian and I wasn't offended by the skit, but I'm not black or Jewish, either, and even I was a little upset by the invocation of ethnic slurs for the sake of argument. You could have been sarcastic and kept in tact the integrity of your point without using the invectives.

Im a big fan of Triumph and think that was really not funny.He could have done better.His Star Wars bit was the best.

I found some of the skit somewhat humorous, but I am aware that this is an extremely touchy subject for some people in Canada. Myself, I'm not too touchy about it, I just don't have any strong opinions or beliefs about the whole situation. Some of that skit may have been funny, other stuff of it was in bad taste. I cannot see how Triumph can go around insulting people without someone just punching the guy who holds the puppet (and does the voice) in the face
