I've never seen a lion charge at a human before. And if I may have, the camera probably shook up and ruined the whole picture, alas leaving me looking up in the sky.

Hunting any animal for sport is wrong imo
There are only 2 reasons for hunting: 1) Food 2)To help preserve the natural ecological balance.

Trophy hunting for animals like Lions is complete bull crap. You aren't going to eat them, and it's not a situation like we have here where animals like deer, geese, pheasents, ect NEED to be hunted to avoid overpopulation. I can't say I've ever killed anything other than maybe a smaller bird with a .22 or pellet rifle when I was younger that I didn't eat.

I've shot a frog before.....
But I don't agree with any of the hunting for trophies...especially an animal like a Lion. They are WAY TOO COOL TO KILL.

I don't believe in hunting for sport unless it's to keep the population down, but some hunters think that if your gonna hunt for sport you might as well hunt something that can kill you too.

if the lion was part of a game reserve, it probably had at one point been fed or otherwise maintained by humans. is the hunting of these animals any different than slautering cows?
P.S. the answer is no |

I'll tell you right now that if i'm out hunting a moose and i have the choice between shooting a moose with large antlers and one with small antlers, i'll shoot the large one. those lions are raised to be shot, just like a cow is raised to be butchered. do you think the meat off sport kills gets thrown out? i dont think so. here in alaska, you are required to take all usefull meat off of an animal you kill, and i doubt anywhere else is different. and yes, it applies to predators too, like bears.
by the way, if i had been that guy, i would have shot that lion about 10 more times. (and lions are one of my favorite animals) |
