Soda's common in Southern California, too. I'm from Oregon, and I've found that "pop" is prevalent here.

I just realized something: what about television? All of the national channels seem to me to have nothing different (as in speechwise) than my life in CT does. They use the same vocab I do, yet you guys seem to use all these different terms.
