Angry Obesity my arse

I am sick of seeing news reports about how 1 in 12 UK children are considered obese.

Supposedly the Government is going to remove all chocolate and pop vending machines and change school lunches to special healthy meals and they're constantly pushing 'healthy' foods and diets.

I'm sick of it.

I, like many people I know are counted as being drastically underweight. The last thing I needed when I was at school was to be almost forced to eat low calorie, healthy foods.

Even now I have to eat a lot of high calorie foods just to maintain my current bodyweight, let alone put any weight on!!

America is portrayed as an obese nation on our news in the UK.

Is this true?

Are your schools pushing for excessive exercise and healthy, low cal meals or is each individual free to choose how healthy/unhealthy a meal they want.

**mini rant over**

Yes, it's about the same here. I especially see a lot of reports about changing school lunches on my local news. What for? If the eating practices are that bad, why not start telling parents to get their kids to eat healthier? It all starts with home. I wasn't denied food when I was growing up, but my folks knew when enough was enough and what was good for me. Probably why I like fruit and veggies so much.

I used to be fat, and I hated it. But, 2 years ago, i did something about it, i didnt rely on a diet, i didnt rely on other people, i just restricted what i ate to what i felt to be healthy, compared to how i ate before, and now im a fine weight.

okay, i just needed to make that to keep this a little on topic.
Over in england, do they call it pop or soda mostly? (talking about soft drinks, like pepsi)

Awesome. Over here, almost everyone seems to call it 'soda' (which i know is an acceptable term) but in my state of Pennsylvania, and in Ohio, most people call it pop, and in New England (including my girlfriend) and the south people have joke arguements with me that its soda, and i feel kind of dumb when i go and ask someone for a pop and they look at me funny, so i have to tell them it's soda.. Pop is a much better word anyways.

yeah.. horrible paragraph stucture and probably grammar, but you can probably figure it out.

I agree

(about the pop/soda thing, not the paragraph structure)

My personel out look on it is, if its such a big deal to them. Then there the ones that need to do something about it. Its called freedom, if people are fine with being overweight then who gives a flying ****. There not the ones that are working for our or anyone elses lifestyle. I justb get sick of hearing what I am or am not, and what I should and shouldn't do. I'm overweight by a little bit, do I care, hell no. You also have to ask yourself, are these studies including people who are slightly overweight or does it include people who are overweight by a bigger margin.

I think that the proportion of underweight people is greater than that of overweight people. That applies to US and UK.

Where all the adverts and diet schemes for us who need a special high calorie diet?

Personally, I have spent the last 8 years on the atkins diet. Which limits Carb intake. But the only reason I have been on this. Is because of the history of diabetis in my family.

Currently, i'm about 5'11" and weigh aroind 215. I'm happy where i'm at. But i'm also a work out freak.

Bryan and I have a theory about old people. Also, we have come to down to certain demeaning and horrificly generalized conclusions about them. Conclusions we currently choose to keep to our selves at the moment.
