I think slow metabolism would be a better term for it than big boned. Seems like I tend to retain every calorie I eat no matter how much I work out. Oh well, not much I can do about it, doesn't really even bug me anymore.

I'm 5'9" 155 lbs...I've been the same weight for five years. I've eaten whatever I wanted, I've eaten healthy, it doesn't matter. I lifted 3-4 times a week these last five months combined with a GNC protein program. I lifted in order to build mass, but there really hasn't been that much change, although the ab workouts I did are noticeable. At any rate, I'm curious to when my eating habits will catch up with me...I honestly don't lose or gain weight.

All I have to do is look cross-ways at a choclate bar, or breath in some fumes, and I gain weight.

Interesting how some of us fight to gain and other fight to lose...

It doesn't bother me too much, except that I want to be healthy for the sake of my wife and son.

Gonna try the South Beach 'diet'. Basically, it promotes cutting down on highly processed carbs ('raw' carbs are okay) and trans fats. That's a generalization, but the plan as explained in the book has logic. Worth a shot, I guess. I like it because it seems like something a person could realistically stick with over the long term.

Physical education is mandatory in UK schools as well.

The thing is, I struggle to put weight on so the last thing I need is to stick on some shorts and go running 5 miles!

I need exercise to build and tone, not to work off fat.

I think physical education should be mandatory but there should be a selection of different workouts available to suit different types of people.

I agree with the concept, but it falls under the fiscal axe, as it were, just as does non-physical education.

Tailor-made education is obviously the best, if you can afford it. The lack of funding is partly to blame for the problems you're describing, just as it is partly to blame for the increase of ridlin prescriptions; teachers don't have the time to customize learning for each child (including the kinetic learners, typically labeled as hyperactive or attention deficient), and so those not in the norm are left to sink or swim.

That being said, understand that I DON'T think simply throwing money at education will correct these definciencies; the money has to be thrown to those who are willing to use it intelligently.

What's your guys' body fat? I'm taller than Matthew S. and also lighter, but I know that muscle weighs more than fat, and I don't work out as much as I used to.

In regards to the different P.E. courses for different people thing. My school offers both Weight Lifting (which I'm more or less required to take being out for football ) and then regular PE, although that's pretty much just playing games for an hour and probably doesn't really do much good.

At my school they're taking out the pop machines and supposedly replacing them with "healthy 100% juice" machines, or milk or something. it don't bother me too much because i don't drink much pop/soda. I can see both sides of the argument, but I lean more towards the freedom side where they shouldn't be able to restrict how you eat/drink. I'm not fat (I used to be) and neither are most of the people who drink alot of pop in my school. They even took out the gatorade/powerade machines. Its kinda stupid, but whatever. I guess they'll do as they like.

A exercise machine which builds muscle, it works with games like gt series or other racing games, the faster you you exercise the faster you go similar to holding the joy stick forward and the slower you exercise it means it is like pushing backwards on a joy stick

the price is crazy though!
