Default NFL Playoffs -- Well, I know one thing...

Quote:
The Vikings will make the playoffs this year, I guarantee it. Once football season rolls around, I'm making sure to find this thread to prove I've been saying it from the beginning. And even though I'm from Minnesota, I'm a realist and don't just pick the team because I like to watch them.
I made that comment back in July and was laughed at. I predicted the Vikings to be 10-6 and win their division...more laughter. Minnesota is 8-5 with three games left on the schedule: Chicago, Kansas City, and Arizona. Somehow I'm confident we'll at least go 2-1 and verify what I've been saying all along.

I also picked Philadelphia and Tennessee to go to the Super Bowl. I continue to stand by that prediction...

Now that the season is almost over, how much have your initial thoughts changed?

*My initial thoughts have changed, considering Minnesota can't beat Arizona to secure a playoff spot.*

I went from having confidence in the Seahawks, to seeing that they suck once again...

They do it every year, they start off really strong, like 3-0 or 5-0, but then they just go downhill from there, it's starting to bother me.

So far the NFL hasnt been very fun this year, and it will be interesting to see who is in the Super Bowl, i think the AFC has the stronger teams.

Tenn better get their act together if they wanna go the superbowl, or even the playoffs. with them losing to Indy, and losing two straight. its very possible they miss the wildcard spot...

the way they were playing earlier, I would have agreed that the titans would be in the superbowl, but now Im not so sure. plenty of good teams in the afc. Indy is playing VERY well, the pasties are pulling things out of their ass, the broncos are making a surge, the cheifs...well they are overrated, the ravens (while I hate this team more than any other team), is playing some pretty good football, putting up some major offensive numbers...and they aren't even supposed to have an offense...

the nfc, well its not so full of good teams this year. GB, SF, NO, TB have all fallen off their usual top spots...the rams are sometimes really good, and others just good enough. the cowboys are dwindling, but thats too be expected as parcells was telling everyone they werent as good as their record stated. the eagles are surprising a lot of people, but I don't think they make it past the nfc champ game.

I can't even make a SB prediction this year...so I will make one for NEXT year....THE STEELERS beat whoever in the 05 SB (if they handle this offseason the right way that is...)

I'm a little disappointed by the season. At first glance in the NFC East, it seemed as if the the Eagles were going down, Giants were gonna do OK, and the Redskins and Cowboys would be at the top. Now the Eagles came back, and Cowboys are simply fighting for the wildcard. Oh the turn of events...

PREDICTION: Cowboys will have a Super Bowl appearence at or before 2007.

It's been another interesting season to say the least. Anyway, my SB pick as of right now: Philly vs. New England with the Pats winning. The Pats look like they are gonna cruise into the playoffs with homefield, and I don't see them losing at cold and snowy Foxburo. They have by far the best coach in the NFL right now, a great defense, and an offense that always seems to come through when they need to. They've beaten almost every other serious Super Bowl contender in the league this year. Indy is another possiblility for the AFC spot (and I think they would win as well). They have a great O, and improving D, and the best kicker (and underrated aspect) in the NFL.

On the other side Philly would appear to be the class of a weak NFC. Great D, but I'm still not totally sold on the offense. They don't have a great running back, although they do have 3 decent backs that together produce well, and McNabb still has no one to throw to. I'm shocked that he's been able to produce as well as he has. Still I can't see any other team in the NFC beating them come playoff time, except maybe the Rams, especially if they get homefield.

I personally think Bill Parcells is the best coach in the NFL right now. I know that Bellicheck, if that's how you spell it, shut the Cowboys out a few weeks back. But there are so many factors I can think of that helped me "call" the game ahead of time. All they had to do for defense was cover Terry Glenn (remember, Galloway was out that game) and protect the run, which is always failing with the Cowboys. They had a BYE week ahead of time, and home field advantage.

But don't get me wrong. I think the Pats would have won either way. But definitely not a shutout.

Plus, you gotta remember Bill Parcells is coaching team that has failed numerously in the past, while Bill Bellicheck is coaching a team "in their prime."

Belichick has coached a team that has been decimated by injuries on both sides of the ball, and who didn't have all that much talent on offense to begin with (Tom Brady being one of the few exceptions), to an 11-2 record. The man is THE defensive mastermind in the NFL, no one can create a defensive scheme to shut down the opponent like he can. Offenses are completely confused when they go up against them and never have any idea what to look for. I'm not just basing it on how he shut out the Cowboys, hell I could design a defense to stop that offense, I'm basing it on what he does to just about EVERY team they play. Remember just two years ago he shut down maybe the greatest offense in the history of the NFL in the Super Bowl, and pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the league. Don't get me wrong, Parcells is a good coach, hell a Hall of Famer, but right now he's not coaching as well as Belichick.

Yeah, but I figured if I said that Bill Parcells is a better coach than Belichick, you would bring it back to the game back then. Just trying to stay a step ahead.

Apparently, the public thinks we are both wrong.

Although Bill Parcells is currently at 13.8% while Belicheck is at 9.1%, that could change.
