Does anyone know how to take pics off a dvd?

if im watching a DVD on my PC, all i have to do to take a screen shot is press "C".

I have taken screenshots by pressing screenprint and pasted in MGI photosuite and I can play around with them but when I save, close, then go back in there is nothing there bit a black box.
If you find out how to get round this I would appreciate knowing.
