G4 Ti4600 are still hot cards today. You can play any game with it without a problem, and the Detonator drivers are the best drivers every created for a videocard.

The releae of the fx will drop the price of the 9700 pro and the Ti4600. 9700 pro is going to be the better choise because its slightly fast, and it supports direct x9....the Ti4600 doesnt. You WILL need the higher direct x for upcoming games.

What do you mean Ti 4600 doesn't support Direct x9? I've just recently downloaded Direct x9 and everything appears to be working ok.

The only card currently on the market that fully supports Direct x9 is the 9700 pro. All other cards will work but will not take full advantage of the new programing. This will be a problem when the new games requiring DX9 are released. This is why people with geforce cards are getting bad scores on the new 3d Mark..To get a proper score you need a card that fully supports DX9. Most peole cant even pass all of the tests.

Direct X.9 will be an optional for upcoming games. Plus what upcoming games support Direct X9 none of them. That's the simple fact none were announced for support with only direct x 9. And if ti4600 don't support it then nvidia will make an update to the detonater driver.
It's not because of the Direct X9 even the FX card couldnt kill the 9700 Pro. That's the simple fact why 3d Benchmarks 2003 is stupid. They tests cards running on artificial benchmarks which makes the 9700 pro so freaken high because it supports those benchmarks and artificial shit if you did not no is not real and you can read up on it. and that's why FX card has a hard time beating it. I mean think about it we don't play 3D Benchmarks we play real games like UT or UT2K3.

Yeah, lets face it, most PC game programmers arent going to specifically create games that only the FX card can play so you have to upgrade to it... There is enough expense involved in gaming of any kind to not have to upgrade to the latest card everytime it becomes available...

Yeah also gaming inductries would be losing money because only the people with the high performance cards will be playing the games which is ofcourse stupid.
Nyedor don't forget companies don't care about graphics as much as they do about money. They aren't stupid you know.

Just wandering:

OK, ive got a newer computer, but it's not really built for gaming. Is the Radeon 9500 Pro, good enough to run most of the games today. I'm basically wanting one that will be able to run Doom 3. Do you guys think it will be able to? If not then i may have to go for the 9700.

Ti4600 will be good i think. It's better then the 9500 but then you can also go for the 9700 pro.
