Damn straight. I pirate PC software, and I pirate it on a daily basis. I pirate music CDs, and do it on a daily basis. I pirate motion picture movies whenever I get pissed off at my local movie theater for being anal jerk offs. I have my reasons, as well. PC software is too damn expensive. No, I won't pay $200 for some program that I need for the general purporse of resizing an image or changing its quality. Nor will I pay $50 or $40 for it. I will not pay $20 to purchase a cheepishly made piece of shit that has one sole function, which is converting and renaming file names in batches -- the most I'd pay is $5 - so kiss my ass and blow me, I'll just steal that shit. *Fires up Kazaa > downloads serial number > cracks crappy overpriced software*.
I don't pirate videogames, because...well I have no reason to. I get them all for free, and besides this industry is treating me like gold. Movies...I'm a frequent movie goer, my collection of movie ticket stubs dating back to 1999 speaks for itself. Though, last week I was very pissed off at my movie theater. The *******s there KNOW me. They know I'm nearly 18 years old. But no, I don't have my ID on me, and because Lazer is a 1 month short of 17 they won't let us enter. Are you kidding? **** you! We leave the theater, and we went to eat. At the pizzeria, I said to Lazer, "Steal that shit. They piss on us, we shit on them". Last year, Lazer and I went to go to see Resident Evil, and we had Lazer's dad (my uncle) come with us to purchase the tickets. The guy at the booth wouldn't give a 40 year old man the tickets. Why? He says he had to watch the movie with us, or we can't go in. So we raise a big issue out of it. Those dirty *******s giving us shit? Telling my own unclue, and Lazer's father, what we can and CANNOT watch? You have GOT to be shitting me! This is our guardian, and HE tells us what we can watch, not some wanker at a movie theater. After a big comotion, Lazer's dad dropped us off at my house. I went in, picked up my High School ID which had a fake date of birth on it (1984, instead of 1985). So we went back, I used my ID to purchase two tickets, and those shit faced bastards gave me the tickets (Lazer stood off to the side). Reasons like that are reasons why Lazer and I decide to download movies off the net. MP3s...meh, whatever. A vast majority of internet users download MP3s, though I happen to be the more conservative MP3 downloader. I have over 1000 MP3, and ironically enough, I have pretty much every CD to accompany them. So, I do still purchase music CDs, as well as download MP3s...so I'd say I'm not really stepping over any boundries here. But, RIAA needs to stop being such blind and ignorant dipshits. MP3s have done nothing but good for the industry. The music industry continues to expand, and has grown roughly 13% over the past 2 years. Music sales continue to skyrocket. Linkin Park's CD was one of the most downloaded CDs ever, though the album managed to sell over 6 million copies, in the US alone...Hmmm. |

As for pirating movies, I agree with you. And besides, in many cases watching a pirated movie causes a person to eventually purchase the DVD, or if it is extremely good, go to the theatres for the full effect. In many cases, downloading a movie off of Kazaa has allowed me to view and later purchase a movie I wouldn't have if I didn't see it illegally. Therefore, pirating movies generates money for movie companies in many cases.

Nah Mat...when we went to see RE they didn't have that exact rule. There was another rule if a parent could not make it to a R rated movie but the parent went in to get the tickets for us and the box office had to put a special stamp which said PC and stood for Parental Concern. Which meant that you are allowed to go in. And that's how my dad always got me and Arnold the tickets. But it's always this one gay guy literally no offense to anyone else that doesn't know shit and never sells my dad the tickets for us and when he calls the manager, he always says yes and it happened like this almost 3 times until the last time when we went to RE they said no the rule has changed.
**** THEM i'm glad Kazaa counter-suid the movie and music district. Hahahaha to all the acadamy i pirated LOTR:TTT DVD meant only for the Acadamy and i give props to who-ever leaked it out. BTW Arnold call me Dmitry. When you refer to me to Lazer as you are my cousin it sounds a little weird. Thanks!!!

I already said, we WERE accompanied by my uncle, because we rose an issue out of it. As far as they knew, my uncle was my legal guardian, they can't tell him what he can and cannot let us watch. He even told the supervisor that he didn't care what the movie displayed. The supervisor has NO right to tell my uncle what to do. All theaters are equipped with Parental Consent stamps which are supposed to be used for situations like these. They were the *******s, not us.

The meaning of "accompanied" does not simply mean buying the tickets with both of you present. He would need to purchase 3 tickets, and as I understand it, he was only purchasing 2. I have never heard of this "PC Stamp" business, and currently believe it is just a way your local theatre has gotten around the law. To see a Rated R movie, you are technically supposed to be accompanied by a parent/guardian, meaning he must watch the movie with you. Like I said, if your theatre found a way around that, then it is very interesting. I'm curious to anyone else ever hearing of this PC Stamp. If other people have come across this sitution, or if you can find proof from other theatres around the country, then I would be convinced; until then, I have never heard of or seen any type of PC Stamp.

The PC stamp is all over New York City. Sony theaters do it. United Artists (Regal Theaters) do it. And so do like dozens of others. It's a common thing in the city. I've been to at least 5 different theaters, all different chains, that had the stamp. It's not getting around anything, it's the way it's supposed to be done.
