Question God of War II help please

How do I make the pendulum inside of the first god swing far enough to block the blue beams?

I just had my response eaten by the page.. But I'll try to retype what I just had.

If I remember correctly, the pendulum has a trigger, either on the lower level of that area or they higher, that causes it to rise some. When its risen, hit the pendulum til it starts swinging, then lower it again. I believe that the triggers on top, so you get up there, trigger the rising mechanism, go back down, hit it til it swings, then go back up to lower, and it will cross the beams.

I just looked it up to make sure, and apparently it starts in the higher position, you have to cause it to lower, hit it, then raise it again. That way the beams are blocked enough to pass.
