I've searched everywhere on forums for this topic, but not many seem to have this one particular error. It concerns a certain scene on disc 2. I've tried F7, every setting I could think of, but ePSXe keeps freezing at this one point...
![]() ![]() ![]() It's pretty self-explanatory... The game, upon entering the waterfall, slows down significantly. Supposedly, you're supposed to be able to see Aeris' image here, but (and this is fairly rare, but other people have had this problem, although their questions go unanswered) I merely get a big black screen, a flash of the 3rd image I posted, and finally an error-sound... after that my comp just goes insane. usually have to ctrl+alt+delete out. Running ePSXe v 1.6.0 on windows XP, with a fairly decent computer. Any tips? |

It's most likely the emulator or your hardware. You can't expect an emulator to work 100% with most games.
You can try to disable the FMV or other options, sometimes theres an incompatibility with the playback, and if you bypass it, you can continue in the game. If you mess with the settings and it works, you can turn it on afterwards and continue your game. |

... Maybe I shall try a different emulator. Know of any? if i could somehow "tranfer" memory cards from one to another, I may be able to bypass it and go back to ePSXe
Besides, I already messed around with every setting I could think of on ePSxe. |

You could try pSX (google it) but I've never had too much experience with emulators for PSX. A lot of emulators should be able to save to a certain memory card file thats pretty much universal, if I remember correctly from when I used to use Bleem. Then again, you might want to check the FF7 disc for scratches cause I know when I played through it the first time on the actual system, there was a scratch on the disc I rented that didn't load the exit point of the Gaia (I think that's what it's called?) mountains
so I couldn't move on to the next area. Didn't lock up, just wouldn't load the next part. I ended up buying the game the next day and it worked fine. |

I downloaded and re-downloaded this. ISO files. Perhaps I'll try a third time; only need disc 2.

I am having this exact same problem, and I am wondering if Bane (or anybody else) has come to a solution.

I FIXED IT! I know it will sound kind of unorthidox and BS'y, but it worked.
For anyone else having this problem- As soon as the screen goes black after the old man speaks, hold 9 (the fastforward key) until you hear the first error sounding beep. Press esc, go to change disk, and run disk 1 ISO (now you have to do this part quickly, or else the game will crash and go pink/green.) As soon as you have ran disk 1, your screen should flash from black to how its supposed to be (you should see cloud, the old man, and your 2 other characters). As soon as you see this, hit ESC! Go to file, change disk, and run disk 2 again... cloud should now talk to the old man about Aeris and the holy materia. After this is done, walk downwards until your screen flashes and goes black once again. Go to change disk, and load disk 1 once again. Again.. you must do this quickly or else the game will crash.. let it run for a second or two and press esc immediately. Change disk, run disk 2 once again, and move south east... You should now be out of the waterfall area... with your screen restored! enjoy. Last edited by bobbleness : 04-30-2007 at 09:35 PM. |

Good news! thanks Very much bobbleness. I just tried your advice. I never got to see Aeris' image, but the game is now un-stuck, and progressing! Many thanks for the solution; got it on my third try.
