ps1 not reading disc?

i've tried putting all my games in and every one brings up the not reading disc screen that shows the choice of a memory card or audio cd. EXCEPT one of my games it brings up a red screen and says insert the playstation format disc. i do not have one of these. would that fix the problem? i'm not sure whats wrong with it. it was in storage for a while at one point, does this sound fixable?

I think it is pretty much finished though I'm not surprised it's on it's last legs.

Either open it and clean it yourself or take it to a computer repair shop and ask them to clean it. That may help.

Put the disc in and turn the console upsidedown, honestly

sometimes the lens drops, so it can't read anything, upside down it drops towards the disc.

But that won't let your machine play Australian games so don't buy any.

dud, its dead and and its been dead for a long time now. u know why because the ps1 went out of style years ago go. buy a ps2 or some thing or better yet a 360 but if u still want to keep it just go and fix it.

try blowing it out with a co2 air can and go to a com store for it to be repaired.

I'm pretty sure since this guy posted 6 months ago that he's either fixed it or bought a new machine by now.
