Hey Dan. I really recommend to check when you bought your 360. If your warranty is about to run out, call Microsoft now and make sure you don't have to pay the $140 fee to fix your 360 if it is a permanent issue.
Now, can you get more in-depth about what the problem is? It just freezes after you start playing it? It could be a lot of things, so I'll list them out for you. 1) There have been a lot of 360's who have had solder problems. Translation: The metal in your 360 has "worn out" (vague terms) and as your console continues to run, it gets hotter, expands, and two metal pieces either touch when they shouldn't, or stop touching each other and connectivity is lost. (This is just my understanding; it could be completely wrong.) This is a hardware error that really can only be addressed by Microsoft's repair center, unless you are desperate and want to try the other alternatives (heat gun, resoldering, etc). I wouldn't recommend these ways. 2) There have been reports of power supplies overheating. It sounds like your problem, now that I think of it. Try what this link says and see if it works: http://www.gamespot.com/forums/show_...3998153&page=0 3) Your fan might be too close to a wall and is reducing fan efficiency, causing your console to overheat. Just move it away from the wall. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, and god damnit, this thread is a month old and there's no way Dan is coming back to read this information. Should have checked that date earlier... oh well, maybe someone else will find the info useful. |
