Trunks

so...I'm on about 17% and every now and then I end in a fight and at the start there's a chocobo there...almost straight away (before i can do anything) they always run away. Is there a way of catching one? I'd look on a turorial on the game but shinra doesn't provide any info on it. Is it like ff8 were you've got to distract it with an item or anything like that?

I think later in the game you have to visit a ranch or something and it's explained how to catch them. I think it's basicaly the same as in FF8.
