How to score goals at NHL 2k4

My brother rented Nhl 2k4 (from sega) and I played about 7 games total, but i can't seem to be able to score. I haven't had one goal in all those games. Is there a strategy i should use so i can actually score from time to time, cause it's getting boring!!

Probably the best thing to do is shoot one-timers. You can also adjust the skill level to make it easier to score. If that doesn't help, go rent NHL Hitz. You'll score a billion.
