Default Ico

Quite a while back, some of you suggested I try ICO.

Well, I went out and got it last night. It is a pretty game, but I didn't really care for the gameplay. It's basically a Tomb Raider game (at least, that's what playing it for a couple of hours showed me).

I think I'll take it back...

I thought Ico played nothing like Tomb Raider. It was a great game in my opinion. Playing through the game is one of the best gaming experiences ever.

However, I didn't enjoy the full version as much as the PS2 Jampacked demo. Probably because I knew the demo puzzles in my head.

I'm a pretty finicky gamer, honestly. It's probably a fine game, but I have to have a game grab me right from the start, or I'm not interested in it at all. I don't play very often, and I don't want to spend too much on games, so I tend to get games with good replay value.

For instance, I've played GTA VC for over 200 hours. That's a good investment of $50, imo.

Another 'problem' I have is this: I get used to a certain game, and it becomes difficult for me to switch over to a new one... Oh well.

About Ico, I also didn't mention that I didn't really like the inclusion of the demons. It was tedious trying to beat them off all the time.

Oh, and I really like being able to save whenever I want...

ICO is so much better then GTAVC. And to say the ICO plays like Tomb Raider is stupid. ICO was so much more addictive game and was really fun because of puzzles. ICO 2 will be awesome. BTW GTA VC was a horrid game. Way too boring. GTA3 on the other hand was good.

I can tell that you are a picky person as far as games go.

I just have to say that one of the best parts of being a gamer is getting use to different types of games. Playing the same types of games with the same save systems, controls just gets too boring. Also, not many games allow you to save anywhere. Games are suppossed to be a little challenging by not putting save points everywhere. I find myself saving more than playing the actual game on games that allow you to save anywhere. Saving in certain spots forces you to progress. Just some of my thoughts though.

About Vice City, I happen to not like that game either or GTA3. I much rather have a game with a deep storyline and innovative gameplay then a game with mindless shooting.

I agree with Barret 120% of the way. He was right on the dot.

My favourite PS2 game by a long shot. Its biggest problem lies in the *somewhat* repetitive gameplay and its lack of replay value. But in terms of atmosphere, animation, style, this game is freaking fantastic.

I actually have this again (didn't play it the first time I owned it), and so far it looks pretty cool. I haven't spent much time on it right now, I still have a few games to play first. But from what I've played it does look cool.

if i remember right- that day you stated you had picked your game choices based on the covers- so i was saying you probably wouldn't pick ICO based on the cover art-
