Our Best of the Best Poll series will continue to run and we'll tackle just about everything. The first on the list is the Best PS1 RPG, and we'll move through the different genres from there on; then, we'll do the same for the PS2, PSP and PS3. We'll also do things like "Best Storyline," "Best Graphics," etc.

Keep all discussion on these polls in here, please. We will update this thread with the results every week. If there are enough top nominees in the subject at hand, we'll do two rounds. We'll weed out the lesser nominees in the first round and establish the victor in the second round; we will award Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for the top 3 vote getters. I'll add those in here, too.

So the readers have chosen Metal Gear Solid in an extremely narrow victory over Final Fantasy VII, and eventually, MGS will face off against the overall winners from the PS2, PSP and PS3 Polls. Congrats, MGS (even though I still think it should be FFVII).

well if you only played one rpg on the ps1 then does it still count. Or do u need to play more. If it's okay to just have played one than i would vote for ff7. And yeah i know, "how could you have only played one rpg on the ps1?". To my defense though i was like 6ish when i got it so cut me a break. And i would of played some like tactics but now a days those games are hard to come buy.

I know how you feel man. I haven't played most of those but that was due to age too. Out of the ones I have played It is a hard pick, I love FFVII but I just had to vote for Tactics Because that game has enthralled me to play more than any other RPG except maybe Lost Odyssey.

I vote for Final Fantasy 8 but i agree with SHADOW FF7 will obviously win this

I gotta say though, Parasite Eve was one of the first and best RPG's i played on the PSX. I still own and play a copy to this day. But i can understand why it wasn't included. The PSX was an RPG machine so it's impossible to caiter to everyone. I can't wait for the next Polls.

Thanks for adding Xenogears, Ben, it was my fav on the ps, although i loved the addictiveness of Tactics. Most of those games were exceptionally fun, but i totally loved Xenogears, the whole experience...

I voted for FFVII. It was the first real JRPG I played and nothing has compared since, especially when I've only really played three other games in the poll. I really did enjoy Wild Arms too, but I lost the game and never finished it.
