Basically for some reason Microsoft's PR agent decided to write to Videogaming247.com with their opinion and thoughts on the PS3 install of GTA4.

here it is:

With the OXM review hitting streets today, and your own preview impressions which are looking great, hopefully you’ll all be a bit wiser as to the ins and outs of GTA IV now.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the chatter from the 1up GTA IV Preview on the PS3 install time….just a few thoughts on what you could do in this time if you were actually playing the 360 version from the moment you insert the disc….

· Steal your first dozen or so cars and test out the improved vehicle handling?

· Check out the cool features on your mobile phone?

· Rack up a 5 Star Wanted Rating?

· Have a blast of your first MP game on Xbox LIVE?

· Ditch the tracksuit chic and buy some new clothes?

erm... something tells me theres a reason why Microsoft feel a need to write and tell someone this.

Steal a dozen cars in 5 mins? wtf.. lol. erm, yeh ok.

Now im not saying the PS3 version is better than the 360, from what ive heard they're all pretty much the same, but for someone to have to write to a gaming site and say this, its a little weird.

The psychologist in me says that this PR bloke might know something the rest of us dont about the two versions. I'm not saying anything, lets just say that who ever this chump is, he's a bit of an idiot.

I don't know what he is up to, but my view on the matter is that he had to come up with some lame comment to try to steal some wind from Sony. The 360 have pretty much only GTA IV to lean on, when it comes big title releases in the up coming weeks. While most here know what PS3 got coming this year. So of course they will try to use everything they got to fork over more GTA IV buyers to the Xbox 360 version.

But all in all, that comment was pretty weak.

lol, not that the install will sway my choice (sure didn't with DMC4), but I'm still trying to decide if I get GTA4, if I get it for PS3 or 360. PS3 has been a more stable system for me, but the online system within 360 I prefer 100x over PS3. Plus the number of people I know on LIVE! is 6x of that I know on the PS3.

As for Microsoft taking a jab at the PS3, they need to get a life. They're just jealous Sony is getting alot of attention this month!

Microsoft are going to be pretty vocal with GTA4, with a Halo3-level advertising campaign designed to make people associate the game with the 360. It's a very childish email though and I would be very surprised (disappointed even) if there are any real differences between the two versions, aside from the install, aliasing, upscaling and DLC factors that really aren't game-breaking differences.

lol, sure there will be...

XBOX360 Player: after the brief time PS3 version takes to install, the XBOX360 has a stroke and either has a disc unreadable error, gets an RRoD. Then he/she waits a month or longer to get a replacement so they can play more.

PS3 Player: Takes 5 minutes to install, in the downtime he/she goes and gets a drink. Plays on a system that works! After a month, they're already deep into the game, and continue to tell their very unhappy 360 friends all about how fun the game is!




despite that, I still think I might get it on the 360...

MS has a hell of a lot more than GTA4 coming this year. For starters, there's Gears of War II, Halo Wars, and Ninja Gaiden II all this year.

Also, you guys are full of it if you think these PS3 installs take only five minutes. You know they take much longer.

Apparently this actually is only 5 mins, its no where near as big as the installs for other games (apparently), anyway what difference does it make? whats five or so mins to wait for a game you could be playing for months?
..and then not because MGS4 comes out soon, lol.



the 360 has some good games lined up, the only one out of the three you mentioned there that im a least bit jealous about is Ninja Gaiden.. loved the Sigma, fkg hard game tho! certainly old skool in that. Makes me want to pick up the next!

But from what I heard last year was that the 360 will get Gaiden 2 and we'll get Sigma 2.. wtf? im sure thats a typo??

as long as we get Gaiden 2 at somepoint I'll be happy.

mind you, Ive been waiting for Last Ninja from System 3 for about 20 years to make an appearence on a decent console!! lol. there was a PS3/360 version planned.. I demand to know where that is, along with a (decent) Tenchu!

mind the 360 also gets UT3 with Split Screen which (for some weird reason) PS3 owners are crying out for..


swings and roundabouts this console war business.

looks like both console are getting one hell of a game in GTA4, thats all we should care about.

I don't get how anyone could excuse or defend these PS3 installs, be they five minutes or twenty, especially given how large so many of them are. I also doubt that this game has a lesser install than, say, DMC4, especially when the game itself is undoubtedly so much bigger.

And there's no such thing as Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Sigma itself is nothing more than an upgraded port of Ninja Gaiden Black for Xbox, any sequel to it is simply Ninja Gaiden II.

hence my note on it being a typo if not true...


as for defending the install, lol.. im just saying get on with it. I personally cant actually do anything about it. therefore i live with it.

I could however vow never to play the PS3 games that require installs ever again and throw away all that i own.

but that would be stupid.

So seeing as I have no power over game developers like Polyphony, Ubisoft, R*, Activision and many others who have decided to take advantage of Sonys HDD, I will carry on because i really dont want to miss out on these great games.

my personal view is that i am dissapointed that so many are making these installs mandatory, and that eventually i will have to upgrade my PS3's HDD in order to do it, but its a low cost and when i get around to doing it it will be worth it.

But the HDD space, the time it takes and the games it affects really doesnt bother me in the slightest.

it seeme to annoy other people more.

it seems foolish to ridicule something like this, especially if you are the main competition, and in a position of trust and decorum.
Because no one seriously sits back and says "you know, MS are right!! that five min install is a bloody joke, im so glad i can steal 12 cars in the time it takes to get those suckers started"

..the only ones who seriously think that are misguided fanboy kids, and if thats who Microsoft have doing public relations for them, then the future is certainly looking good for Microsoft.

of course i dont believe it is the way MS are headed, I know it was some lone PR agent who took it upon himself to write to these gaming sites and express his opinion, but it wasnt very clever was it?
