This is likely to further hurt HD-DVD but could end up giving a boost to 360 sales. Gamers who want the widest selection of high def movies would be able to view the 360 as a viable machine where as currently the PS3 is the only option for the more cash strapped purchasers. This wouldn't however effect people like me who own both next gen systems as I am highly unlikely to pay out for a 360 BR add-on when I have my PS3.

yeh, poor MS! funny isnt it that thier keynote last month was to say that who ever has third part support wind the console war and that they have it and they will win it....
then this all happens. Microsoft are 'thinking' about BRD.. apparently if the customer wants it they will consider it... WAKE UP!! we want it, we have it. i wish companies like MS would take the bloody stick out of their arse (and i do inc Sony on some issues here too). just because the PS3 has BRD that doenst mean that the 360 has to have a different format... maybe one day we will be able to play games againts each other on the consoles.. not all, but a few choice games. this would be a step in the right direction. Microsoft should take BRD now.. not wait for months before it really bites them in the arse, but take it now. because if they dont and games start getting bigger and better and start requiring HDD and disk space, some third parties maybe looking else where for their next killer title. rumour is that GTA5 will be an exclusive on PS3 for this reason. Microsoft have enough money (probably 20x over with fluff in pocket to buy another few hundred companies) to buy everyone with a 360 a ext Hdd (say at least 40 gig) and a BRD player. to expect 360 owners to shell out for these two would be bad imo. but wouldnt it go amazingly well for MS to do that? not only are they keeping their existing customers happy (which is a big thing) plus from the moment they do that they can start selling the regular 360 with a bigger HDD and BRD. but they wont.. this time in say 18months, it will be interesting what decisions Microsft has made, the obvious and right choice is right in front of them.. change to BRD, my other 'silly' ideas wont ever happen, even tho my idea is cheaper than bringing out a bigger better new 360, because you would have to launch it as a new console. Microsft would loose the war as they would be back where the PS3 was last year at Mr Square one... and you know how much they would hate that. but i honestly think that this whole BRD thing could lend a lot of weight to the PS3 in to this so called console war.

yeah theres not much point MS going the BD route for games now(unless they provide current owners with a BD drive) cos they're going to alienate a good few people, it won't be long before they need one for movies tho.
Bastard that I am I have to say that alot of the stuff that has happend regarding BD/HD-DVD I predicted months ago and was a little more than scoffed at by a certain mod, but Im not going to gloat............IN YOUR FACE SUNNY, whoops I did it

I agree that Microsoft should prepare a BR add-on now as there are people out there buying the HD-DVD one and that's a lot of money to waste when all the major movie studios put out BR exclusively.
It could also be that MS just go right ahead and launch a new machine with BR built in. Cross release games for a year or two then phase out the DVD titles. It could even be their next-next gen console.
