Default EA.. why are you so wrong for the industry?

now im not going in to detail of the past, we all know why EA probably should be sharpening up or shipping out of the industry.

comments like "its too hard" or "i cant do it" springs to mind, and the last time i heard that it was when i was five and i was in a strop about something.

anyway...

im enjoying my NFS Pro St journey, i didnt buy it.. it was a gift. so even though i was never going to buy this, i have to say that i can really only say good things about this game. solid cars, great race modes (like Drag.. lol brilliant). tracks are a lil boring, but at least theyre manageable.
all in all frame rate aside i am bordering on loving this game and actually considering NOT to trade it in for Burnout (shock horror) at the end of he month.

until i checked out the PSN USA store last night.

they actually expect you to pay $2.49 (per car) to unlock the cars before the game lets you. cars that you could play the game, unlock and buy with fake game money.. in time.

but EA honestly have the front to sell people what they have already.. i was dumb founded.
How dare they.. how dare they prey on the stupid and dumb around us.. the guys with too much money and little sense, the people who maybe dont realise that they can get these cars and more by playing the game or using the free cheats!!

the free cheats as listed here http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/code/939739.html give you everything.
they give you free money to buy these cars, free markers, free cars and a cheat that you can use over and over again to unlock everything.. all 60 cars, plus four cars that you can sell each time you put the cheat in and make a tad under 100k.

so what im saying is that if you use the UNLOCKALLTHINGS cheat, you can save yourself $$$ in real hard cash.

EA are just unreal, to think that they can do this is bad.. i thought Codemasters were bad with the phone cheats, but this takes the cookie.

ok, rant over.

I will still play this, but come the 25th i can just see me at the shop with NFS in hand.

bah.

With Ridge Racer on 360 they did the same thing with the unlockable cars BUT they were all free which is the right thing to do imo. Was that Namco?

I have lost all faith in EA. Pro street demo didn't appeal to me at all, if it had the same feel as Hot Pursuit 2 I would have been all over it.

Different Genre, but I know in Katamari you can buy the sets of cousins and accessories, all of which you can unlock in game. Also all of which is pointless as it gives you no benefit aside from looking different.

That and Katamari is a family style game and they still expect you to pay for the DLC. Even Rainbow Six (a game for more advanced gamers) gave away the Red and Black packs for free, as well as other games that have the free DLC.

I don't understand how companies can really justify selling us little bits to add to our game instead of just letting us have them. PC games let us, and back in the day when expansion/mission packs were commonplace, they gave a lot more for your money. Missions, weapons, vehicles, depending on the game, you get tons of stuff as opposed to now, you're paying a high price for just a few maps or a new car which should be a part of the game, no cost.

(and I forgot that Burnout was coming out so soon. I might have to set aside some of my new years holiday pay for that.)

exactly.. we spend a lot of money on these games, if it wasnt for us buying them.. they wouldnt have a business.

I understand when like RFOM gets a new map months after it was released, same with Warhawk... not only is it new content, ibut its obvious that more extra maps may come our way.

when EA sells us what we already own, there is nothing new. its making more money just by selling us old tat.

personally i like this free space thing on the PSN store, but Sony should throttle EA for this blatant money grabbing venture.

I know that its the same on the 360, and i would hope MS would do the same...

Burnout seriously...! ive been playing a lot online since getting that demo, i meet up with my mates, we joust for a bit.. then its Cod, lol... mindless but so much fun.

Gabe, i know what you mean!! NFS HP2.. ahh those were the days. when i first saw that Pro St was in daylight i was quite excieted, then i found out that it was a GT esq type game.. i wasnt so happy.

I liked the demo to a point, but not enough to buy it.

so after getting it as a gift, i must say that i really do enjoy the game a lot.. but not only is this Car scam bad, but so is the advertising in the game.. Coke Zero anyone? or maybe you should puts some ENERGIZER batteries in... lol, so not funny.

Same thing with tiger woods 08. You can purchase with MS points a complete full 110% stat golfer....I put in about 10 hours into getting it to 110% on my own and that's why people play. There's also 2 courses that can be downloaded (one is free, the other is 400 pts) but I got them. I think Tiger 07 was the same way with stats and is total bs for them to offer that.

On a sad note, my 360 only could read 1/12 of my games and couldn't read dvds what so ever. I had a bestbuy warrenty on it, but when I went today. They said the can only ship it out, but if I had the 3 red lights, they would offer a instant exchange.....I paid 90 bucks for that 3yr and I get to be without a xbox from 2 weeks to freakin 2 months...............I'm not happy..

so you dont have a 360 at the mo?? what you going to do?

were you playing Cod at all? because i know if that had happened to me right now, i dont know what i would do with myself, lol.. sounds sad, but im still playing that like theres no tomorrow.

still atleast your guaranteed a 360 at the end of it all... its something eh?

as for EA, they suck the big one. one of the reasons i sold T.woods for the PS3 is because i felt the grip of Darth EA. as every time i turned my game on.. there i was, logged in to EA's lil world.

now i actively stop it connecting to EA PLANET when i play nfs lol

I really REALLY wished they hadnt brought out the Burnout guys... i will still buy that as its awesome, but i wonder what level of advertising it has. in theory it shouldnt have any as its a make believe world, like GTA.

but i heard a rumour that there was a Pepsi billboard in the new GTA.. i hope they were wrong.

I'm still just about on my first 360 but I don't expect it to last through the year. I'm already forced to resort to fancy trickery just to get it to start up and I've had both hard drives (one was a free one from Microsoft) corrupted, though they're both up and running again now. In terms of the games library, the exclusives, the integration of Xbox Live into games and the Xbox Live/Marketplace service itself I think the 360 is fantastic, but they clearly had to sacrifice a lot of testing to get the console out so early and the hardware is a piece of junk as a result.

Regarding EA, even if they don't specifically have advertising in Burnout it's likely their logo will still be plastered all over it. It was certainly everywhere in the Simpsons Game, including branding the helium tanks Homer uses to inflate himself. Going by Crysis and Hellgate: London all EA PC games now start up with an EA movie, the developer's movie, an nVidia movie, an Intel movie and the game's actual intro movie. There are still openings for sound card, physics card, network adapter, keyboard, mice and monitor manufacturers to get their brand in the startup sequence.

I really don't mind advertising in game. If it's done tastefully and made to be part of the environment, it's ok. For example in Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell you'll find some Assassins Creed posters up on the walls, or billboards, etc. What I hate is when they advertise using things you actually interact with, as it forces you to glorify that company because it's your tool.

I figure if it's passive advertising and it's done tastefully and they haven't sold out so badly to have a billboard for Newport Cigarettes, I'm fine with it. Games that have advertising all over the place so you can't escape it, or make you use something branded (unless of course in such genres as racing or sports) is overboard. Still I don't want to be driving around and having to pickup TEXACO ENERGY BOOST PICKUPS!!!!!1!1! in a driving game, as related as it is.

Absolutely spot on.
