I was driving home last night and was listening to Kerrang radio and one of the presenters came out with a few facts and one of them was that the to this date the Nintendo DS has sold more than the PS3, 360 and Wii put together.
I was just a bit shocked by this and was wondering if it was true? I dont know much about the DS at all, like when it came out etc.. but I just found it suprising as I dont know anyone with a DS at all and I know alot of people that have at least one of the 3 consoles mentioned.

Yes this is very interesting, I guess the Nintendo DS system appeal to a lot of the 'casual' players.
Wii is also good with the casual players, they just have problem to produce enough consoles. 1.8 million units a month I have heard, and I just read that they had to remove their Wii ads spots, because they want to focus on get the Wii out there. So they have given the ad space they bought to promote the DS system, so Nintendo is in the lead at moment. The PS3 and X360 is more suited for the hardcore or adult generation of gamers. |

I'd say that's a pretty accurate statement.
According to wikipedia the DS has sold roughly 53.64 million units worldwide. From the same source: PS3: 5.59 million Wii: 13.17 million 360: 13.4 million So if these numbers are remotely accurate, the DS has nearly doubled the sales of all three consoles combined. You have to factor in the demographic, that and pricing and playability make it pretty lucrative, too. Last edited by RickyP : 12-13-2007 at 08:58 AM. |

I got my wife one for Christmas. She's been playing Brain Age and BA 2 quite a bit. I'm very curious to see how long she keeps it up. If she gets bored, I'm sure my boys will us it...
