Default Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion (Spot on Review, Ben!)

http://www.psxextreme.com/psp-reviews/121.html

Ben's review was on the dot. Only thing i would like to add is that anyone who has a friend that may have FFT for PSP should try out the new Rendezvous challenges. Rendezvous basically is a coop challenge against AI. It's harder and involves a lot more tactical thinking to play. Very Fun!

The only think i would have changed in Ben's Review is to give the game a Replay Value of 10 . But, then again it's just the fan in me speaking.

Great review Ben!

I'm already replaying the game over for the PSP, this time trying to Master all jobs with Ramza and obtain the Maxed out Ultra Powerful Onion Knight and the awesome Dark Night.

As Ben stated, "Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is a must-have game for any PSP owner", so all of you with PSPs who don't have the game go buy it.

As a huge fan of the PS original, I want this game a lot; though it would mean having to purchase a PSP as well

I'll see how xmas goes before I take the plunge.

Thanks. I'm sorry, I just completely forgot to mention the co-op play, but I played it on my own so it skipped my mind. And in all honesty, I must say this is a single-player's dream and isn't really cut out for multiplayer (as cool as Rendezvous is).

It's FFT. My favorite game of all time. How can a remake POSSIBLY be a bad thing?

I wouldn't call it "forgiving" because it will be a challenge if you're new to the strat/RPG genre. Ever played things like Tactics Ogre or Vandal Hearts? Or Disgaea on the PS2? If not, it could be difficult to get into, but if you do...kiss your life goodbye.

And if EA ever got their grubby mitts on this game, I would slit my wrists.

lol, i think your wrist will be fine.

though come the 14th of Dec... mine might not be.

yeah, loved Vandal Hearts one and two... (was there a third?)... and played Disgaea on the PS2, but not like my mate who clocked up over 500 hours on Disgaea1, and the only reason he stopped was because he had to start no.2 before the PS3 version came out

so the same sort of thing huh?

so heres a good question (as im buying psp disgaea anyway).. what would you choose if you had never played FFT ...would you buy Jeanne D'Arc or FFT?

You know I'm going to say FFT, even though I've never played Jeanne D'Arc. I know the latter is supposed to be great but...well, it's FFT.

And if you've played those games, than you'll be fine. FFT is a little different - it has a more involving gameplay than any of those other titles, just because of the Job System - but you've already got the gist.

And no, there was never a VHIII, unfortunately. I really liked VHII; it had some of the best writing I've ever seen.

If you have played the original, you will notice that some of the abilities and skills have different names. They have re-translated the whole game from ground up, giving it a more proper 'old king&knight English'. Which fits the time line the story is placed in.

the Ivalice timeline goes like this

"(Quoted from GameFaqs.com)
FFTA* –> FFXII –> FFTA2* –> FFXII:RW –> FFT –> Vagrant Story -> FFTA* -> FFTA2*

*The beginning of FFTA takes place in a modern Ivalice setting, but the bulk of the game takes place in a “fictional” Ivalice. This “fictional” Ivalice is sometime before FFXII. FFTA2 is confirmed as being after the events of FFXII, in the real Ivalice (but like FFTA, starts out in modern Ivalice)."

My personal progress
I have played to the end of the story now, I got all the 'secret' characters etc. including Construct 8, Cloud, Balthier (FFXII) and Luso (from up coming FFT:A2 on NDS) Got Beowulf and Reis aswell.

Short about Balthier and Luso, Balthier is one of the most powerful characters you can have this time around. He is faster than Ninjas.
He brings with him the most powerful gun in the game, plus his personal skill 'Sky Pirate'. Got the same abilities as Mustadios, in addition to have thieving abilities
Luso is almost a copy of Ramza, got all the same squire abilities.

I also got the Dark Knight job on Ramza, it is the similar to the job Gaffgarion have, but including 3 more moves, plus extra abilities or support and movement. As Gaffgarion only had ShadowBlade (HP drain) and Dusk Blade (MP drain).

Hope I didn't spoil too much. I just like this game very much. Like lot of others here do.

SPOILER
I just started replaying the game. I stole Gaffgarion sword during the fight right before the last fight of chapter 2. When Gaffgarion tries to trick you in that they are killing the princess and actually it is not the princess.

That sword is awesome, i think it's the Blood Sword (Don't feel like turning on the game to check the name). Every hit you make will recover HP for the amount of damage made.

I got Onion Knight but what i'm really aiming for is Mastering all of the Jobs to unlock the TRUE Onion Knight. The Onion Knight is the most powerful job in the game. But the only way to unlock its True Power, where all of its stats are MAXED OUT is to master all jobs.
SPOILER

SPOILER
Yea, onion knight is power full, by every 2nd job you master, the Onion Knight will gain 1 job level. (excluding Squire, Chemist, Mime, and Dark Knight)

Onion Knights cannot equip their unique equipment before Job Level 8, and cannot equip any secondary abilities.

Right now I am going to max out at least 5-6 of my party, and go down deep dungeon to fetch some of the best swords you can get without multiplaying.
