The PSXExtreme name is surely the strongest 'brand' element the site has though, isn't it? Changing that could cause all sorts of problems. I suppose technically PSXE could be kept, serving as a redirect to a new domain name, but again it seems a bit of a big step for what will utlimately still be a Sony-dominant site. Adding the Wii is just going to further exacerbate the issues already present, with Ben feeling stretched too thin to fully devote time to Nerds as it is. I don't even recall if Ben or Arnold have a Wii, which would also be a bit of an obstacle.

While lacking the technical expertise to know how easy it would be to implement, I could see some kind of 'tabbed' layout. By default psxextreme.com would have all the content, with a clickable tab that only shows the Sony parts (for those who really resent the idea of seeing 360 news) and another for Microsoft. Obviously it would have to be something done automatically, so Ben just has to put in a news item and maybe tag it for Sony, MS or both. But as I said, I don't know how practical that is to design and implement. Plus, as Gabriel said, it potentially divides up traffic still.

Ultimately though I'm sure Val and Ben know what's best.

Yes, keeping the name is of top priority; I believe all of us agree on that. PSX Extreme is widely known as is the domain, and it's just not something we can afford to change, in my opinion.

Also, none of us have a Wii and it would certainly make things far more difficult. For now, I think we're just looking at merging Sony content with MS content in the smoothest manner possible.

There are no plans to add Wii content. It's widely known that PS and Xbox gamers are very similar types of gamers, many have both consoles. Nintendo consoles cater to a different type of gamer, usually younger and more general.

Just to make things clear, we are only going to add full-Xbox coverage when we are 100% ready to handle it without hurting our Playstation quality. I have absolutely no plans to dilute PS content quality in order to add Xbox content.

I mentioned like IGN.

What we have is a switch from 2 different sites.

There needs to be a main page with all content and then a switch into console specific. For example you go to www.ign.com you'll get all content. From there you can switch to a console specific page for example ps3.ign.com or xbox360.ign.com.

You mean like ps2.psxextreme.com x360.psxextreme.com?

I don't really see the need for that, IGN does that because they cover so many topics (men, movies, etc).

Well then i don't know. But i personally don't think it's a good idea mixing XBox and PS content into PSXExtreme.

PSXExtreme.com is an excellent domain name. But i don't know the X on the PSX doesn't look like it would stand for XBox. I would think XB would stand for XBox if anything. But the only thing that i think is bad is the XBoxNerds domain. The name imo is stupid especially in comparison to PSXExtreme.

All it would take though is something like

(image is here if it doesn't display, though the site seems to be having some trouble. Imagine the PSXExtreme Logo with the green X of Xbox Nerds)

to make it clearer though, especially if there's the same colour system in place for news items: blue for Sony and green for Microsoft (black for multi?). Such a colour scheme should ensure the rabid Sony-loving, anti-Microsoft crowd rarely click on an item about the evil Micro$oft.

Heh...that's exactly what Val had in mind.

But I think we're going to focus on a cosmetic upgrade and solidifying all PSX content before adding Xbox stuff. That's about where we're at right now.

Didn't think of it that way. But yeah that does look good and it would work without Wii content though.
