While it essentially means disagreeing with myself,
GamesIndustry.biz has Microsoft's first quarter earnings and apparently their "entertainment and devices devision [is] reporting income of USD 165 million". As far as I'm aware that part of Microsoft encompasses more than just the 360 and MGS, but it does indicate that the 360 isn't running at as big a loss as I thought. With Nintendo also showing off their
mighty earnings it's only Sony who are chalking up
big losses by having to sell the PS3 at a lower price than it costs to manufacture.
Of those three Microsoft's earnings are the only ones I wasn't expecting to turn out as they have; it was always clear that the Wii was selling well and turning a profit on each unit sold while the PS3's were selling at a loss and haven't been in the market anywhere near enough for game sales to make up for it.
