Default PS3 backwards compatibility for PS2 games!!!

Hi
PS3 backwards compatibility for Europe and the rest of the world!
well that's what I've decided to campaign for because sony just aren't listening to their customers!!!
Please sign my petition and support the campaign for a PS3 that PS2 users want!

If I get enough signatures and can get press interested, then Sony will have to start listening to their loyal customers!!
Please let anyone know who might be interested, email your friends!

I'm sorry, but this won't have any impact. Sony has made a long-term manufacturing decision, and they're committed to it.

I agree, even though I believe it is a bad decision.

Though I suppose I can see the logic on both sides. Sony is a very successful company with a well proven track record, thus I'm not one to question their executive decisions.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel this is a mistake. We'll all agree that the PS2 has a pretty extensive library, it seems such a waste not to include b/c emulation out of box, despite the fact they stated that they had no future desire to implement it via firmware updates.

After all, the PS2 being backward compatible was a pretty strong selling point (for me anyway)

Oh well.

Most PS3 consumers already own a PS2 regardless, so I suppose it's all a matter of convenience. But the same can be argued with multiple DVD disc games and the Blu-Ray format. Just a though.

It is the fact they have no intentions for emulation either which strikes me as being more than a little stupid.

As with the PS1 I was hoping to get my PS3 and pass down my PS2 to a deserving family member (in other words, my mum). However, thankfully due to the non perfect bc I have with my 60gb machine I kept my old PS2.

I would be less bothered if I had a house big enough to have all my consoles permanently set up.

but they will keep updating the 20, 60 and 80gig systems for emu on PS2 games.

its just the 40gig and forever more other versions that they wont, and to be honest i agree with Sony.

I didnt buy a £425 system so i can play PS1 and PS2 games on it, its nice and ive used it many times over in that way... but taking out the emu side of things to reach the demanded price cut that the customers wanted, I think its a good idea.

if everyone wasnt complaining about the cost and could see that for the money youre getting a PS1, PS2, BRD player, internet browser, music thingy and on top of it all a PS3...

but everyone was saying how too expensive it was, so Sony say ok.. heres a version you can afford.. yet everyone starts moaning because they cant play their PS2 games on it.. so you know what the answer is?

dont throw your PS2 away!

I'm one of those who didn't think the PS3 was overpriced in the first place

Posted for the second time, thanks to the rollback

Aside from the minor clutter issue it hardly seems a point worth campaigning over. If memory serves the overall price reduction from this is greater than the cost of a PS2, so assuming you aren't one of the hundred million billion* people who already own a PS2 this saves you money. It also moves the PS3 down from an unattractive price point at the cost of a feature that was nice but not essential.

*May not be an exact figure.

Tell you what, they lop off another $100 over the next year to get er down to $300 and have some really good games that may just be the trick for me, i expect by then they will be very close to that price point...
