Picked up skate. of course on Monday cause the delay in shipping got all Canadian stores to only have it this past Monday. It's a sweet game and reminds of skateboarding in rl back in the day lol. If I still had my buddies today, I'll still be skateboard (of course skating alone is bs...)

Anybody else pick this game up? The rl physics system owns huge and I'll never buy another Tony Hawk game again lol

My friend paid me gas money to drive him 2 hours to a store that had the game in stock. We got there just as the guy was opening the box with the game shipment in it.

I've only played the demo though, and it's superb. I tried the Tony Hawk proving ground demo, and I was horrified by it compared to skate.

Maybe once I get a job and money I'll pick it up

sweet. Just like the Crackdown demo (put atleast a good 30 hours into it) I've played the skate. demo to death lol.

They really screwed the Canadian shipment so all the USA got skate on friday and we had to wait monday/tuesday for it. I called atleast 15 stores around calgary and one guys like: "let me chx, yup we got it in" lol

I won't dl the TH demo, from what I heard it's complete bs now....

Well we went to one place 30 miles away, and they didnt have it, so we drove almost back where we started to get on another highway to drive an hour to another place. Best Buy didn't have it, the guy told us there was a production error and they didn't know when they were getting it. We went to Gamestop and they just got the package minutes before we arrived, the cashier said the first package came in the morning and there wasn't any Skate copies in it, but somehow timing was perfect enough for us to get the fresh copies right on the spot.

it will be interesting if THPS rolls over and dies or if they will come out and fight in the next installment.

if i was Tony H, i would be retty pissed off that that SKATE is as good as it is. THPS should be that good..! the TH games should be the best, but they havent moved on in years. im gutted for Tony, i really am.


but saying that, i get over such things really fast, and will be picking up Skate asap.. when it come outs over here!

ok, so i have to learn a more complex system of skating, but i figure its worth the hassle.. bring on the Dog Town

its going to take some time to get used to the controls, but i think its worth it.

its a shame thps didnt do more than sit around and count the cash after thps2...





Edit: just brought SKATE... lol, its way different than i thought it would be and far far better than i imagined!

though no mention of the video recording of your tricks.. I don’t know if it was immediately obvious to you as you were playing as it took me a while to discover ‘the joy’ of recording your tricks. As you can record some fluke, amazing trick or some weird thing that happened.. sort the camera angles out, slow down ..speed up, and add tones to it like greyscale or sepia etc etc.. then after you have done that, you can upload it to the Skate community for everyone to view and rate. Theres some incredible videos there ..and I have three on there too, but mine are just my efforts as a newbie skater, but there’s some that are amazing. And some that are just down right hilarious to watch, and as painful as watching real skate vids. Every time I play skate I always play freeride online and then check out the latest videos.

I urge you to check this out, as I think it’s a really important part of the game, maybe even essential.


The frame rate problems, I totally agree, they are at times bad.. but after my lil trick (check out the ps3 forum) of changing the settings, I swear its better. Not perfect, but im certainly noticing the frame drop less. Either that’s because my settings are working or im just not seeing the frame drop, I don’t know.


Great game though, and not perfect, certainly paves the way for skate games to come. I feel that learning a new way to control this sort of game from Tony H was totally worth the effort, as you say.. you feel like you have earned the trick you just pulled off, mainly because you have!
