I enjoyed the first 2 Guitar Hero games quite a bit (thought not as much as the far superior Guitar Freak/Drummania games imho.) The $100 price tag has made me completely lose interest in Guitar Hero 3. I don't know about the rest of you but this only makes me more interested in the Rock Band game. GH3 seems like it is charging more every time for the same game with less songs that I really like. Hopefully Rock Band will turn out as well as I know it should. The only thing I can really see hurting it are overpriced downloadable songs, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Okay, but bear in mind, there's a darn good chance Rock Band could cost even more. There are four (or five) accessories for that game, and I think it will be extremely difficult for the publisher to release the game and all those accessories for less than $100. My guess is it will be very similar in price to Guitar Hero III, if not higher.

Lucky, I'm really not into those types of games. But with the Halo 3 Legendary edition, a possible GTA4 super edition and a slim chance of a Mass Effect Collectors edition. I might be paying alot more lol. (Plus that new HDTV I want....)

I think you're missing my point. Rock Band includes something new while Guitar Hero doesn't. Paying $20 more than the previous version just to download songs is a joke.

If you don't have any interest in singing or playing the drums they will basically be the same game with different songs. But if you have any interest at all in playing drums or singing the songs then Rock Band would be a much better value. Like many other people, I already have 2 guitars from the previous GH games. Microphones are super cheap so that's not an issue imho. All I would want is the drum set with the game for a reasonable price.

would i pay $100 for GH3? well seeing as $100 is £50, and we pay that for a game anyway, yeh i would pay that.

but even tho that is the exchange rate, we all know that it will probably be £69.99 and if it was that, i would buy the guitar and play GH2.. and when thats all done i would then buy GH3 at a discount.
