With fanboys of the GTA series, I'm postive they are hardcore gamers = they have an HD. If the 5% of the possible non HD owners, shame on you lol.
To be honest, I think they will make the HDD mandatory at one point in the 360's life.

Arnold, just as hilarious as MGS4 on 360!

That wouldn't be hilarious since it'd still be on the PS3. I'm talking about leaving X360 owners out in the cold and forcing them to buy a PS3 if they want to play the GTAIV follow up.

Well my point was that neither would be hilarious.

I think it'd be pretty funny to give MS fanboys a taste of next gen GTA only to have them forced to buy a console they hate just to play their favorite series, but I don't think that'll happen.

Exactly. It'd be funny in the sense that it'd make all game forums explode harder than diarrhea held in for 10 days.

There must surely be a time when the amount of data required for x game will be greater than a DVD. Where will Microsoft be then? I don't want to have to swap discs mid way through a game. I guess they'll be saying we'll release the game on the PS3 and then cut bits out for the 360 owners. I own both systems so it doesn't really matter to me but I'm sure it would for some. MS have already said they won't be using the soon to be released HD add on for gaming.

There will just be multiple discs per game, and it's not really that big a deal, it's something we've been doing since the Playstation days. While it may prove a mild annoyance, it's not something that is going to affect platform destinations or console sales.

The only types of game that I can see this being a real annoyance are GTA-like games, TBH.

But they can cache plenty of compressed data on the hard-drive. There's ways around the storage problem, although none of them match Blu-Ray's convenience (or price).

That's the thing, they can't cache into the HDD. 40% of Xbox 360s don't have an HDD, so when developers are developing their games, it's as if they're developing for a console without a hard-drive.

And creating a code where it makes the game run better on an Premium 360 then pisses off the Core pack owners. It's lose-lose.
