Alright, I agree Sony still have some fine tuning to go but I honestly found playing Res and MS online a much more entertaining experience than Halo and PGR.

I think it could be because it's quite new so many people are of the same level AND THERE AREN'T ANY CHEATERS. I came 8th out of about 20 on my first ever game of Res. I didn't even know the controls!

I found myself cursing and laughing when I died and at no point have I been kicked out of a game, unlike Halo 2.

I've only ever played Pro Evo 4 and Ghost Recon II on XBL so I cant really comment.

But as of now all I know is im having a blast with PS3 online

Do you know if UK'ers can play our American cousins online?

i dont think we can play them at MS, as you can either play on Oz or EU servers... but i dont know about RFOM... (ps.. if im playing an online game of MS, it seems to work better for me on the Oz server, tho saying that.. i SUCKED big time last night, and maybe that was down to the oz server..ahem, lol.... oh ok.. im crap at MS, but i love it!!)


does anyone know here about RFOM? you dont have to choose servers, so i think we probably can

oh, sorry.. back on topic. from what i played of XBL.. i agree, but would be unfair of me to really comment as i dont own the console.

all Sony have to sort out is the messaging in games rather than coming out of a game to reply.. but i can see that being sorted soon.

That wouldn't surprise me. I'll just make the most of it while I can.

I guess one major advantage for me is that soon I'll know more UK based people with PS3 than 360 which will make mates gaming easier. I know with my 360 it's difficult to get a mates game running because of timezone differences.

TBH, when I got my 360 it was the same. I barely ran into morons, but now it's quite the opposite.

Where there is popularity on the internet, there are asshats that work hard to ruin it (see CounterStrike, Digg, youtube, NeoGAF etc).

Yeah, that'll probably last about 2 seconds. Like Sunny said, for some reason people will go to tremendous lengths to ruin good things. I rarely faced cheaters on Madden '07, but there were still ways to cheat or even just not play according to the spirit of the game.

But a cool feature that the next-gen systems have is the ability to ban an entire system from the network. On X-box and PS2, they can only block IP addresses. On the next-gen systems, your system has a unique code that is sent to the network whenever signing on, and that way Sony and MS can just ban the codes and force the cheaters to buy a new system to keep playing.

That does make buying used systems a little more complicated, though. But since cheating is so rampant on games like Halo 2, it kind of is necessary.

I definitely agree. I've already been on PSN much more than XBL, and I've had PSN for a shorter period of time. Playing MotorStorm and Resistance online is awesome.
