What a terrible, terrible game. How in the hell did some of the shit that occurs in the game get passed the quality and assurance people and the testers? Another 2 months of development should've been done to fine-tune. NBA Street review is next. |

lol it was a well written review,I had some issues with some fielding comments and graphics but other than that you were pretty spot on.
" Catching a high fly-ball is sloppy, as players make jerky, last second catches - instead of locking onto the ball's sight and catching it with confidence. These sorts of things begin to remove you from the game, and suddenly you don't feel like you're playing a product that's very polished. Certain aspects of the game need to be a bit more automated, such as catching fly-balls. Players should get locked into a position before a ball is caught and call the catch by signaling out to surrounding outfielders. Otherwise what happens is another fielder gets too close, and if the catch is jerky, the player may drop the ball by accidentally bumping the nearby fielder. The more you play MLB 2K7, the more you'll begin to notice dumb mishaps that should've never existed in the first place" In options Arnold if you go to ball indicator and put it on locked you will know the fly balls final landing spot which makes it a lot easier to field. As for bumping into people, simply hold down X and call off the other fielder while the ball in in the air,you wont run into anyone. I think the ps3 version must look worse than the 360 version cause some of your graphics comments regarding framerate leave me confused, cause the game plays very smoothly on the 360 except for an ocassional dip in framerate.I also dont notice jaggies other than the awful crowd. I totally agree with you on the amount of Hr's hit,its f-ing absurd and really helps to hurt a pretty good baseball game. It can be adjusted using sliders to get the hr's down, need to adjust power to about 5 and play on either All-star or Legend. I would have given the game a solid 8 for the 360,which is a huge step from turd 2k6. Show for me last year on the PS2 was like a perfect 10,hopefully Ill get something that good on the PS3 next month *crosses fingers* |

Yeah, the X360 version does look better actually and has a better framerate. Also, I do have my indicator on - what I was talking about was when they stumble as they catch the ball or do this jerky reach-out to catch the ball, it looks so stupid. I'd just have prefered the game automatically locks the player as soon as you enter the ball's dropzone, and have the player look up and prepare for the catch. Minor things.
Show for PS3 isn't going to look spectacular...but the feature's list is crazy! The most important thing is that it's running on an enhanced PS2 Show engine, with improvements in animations, A.I. and other stuff. I'll post the features list for Show PS3 in a sec... |

Ok I got you.I understand what you're saying, but in the 360 version that jerky reach out animation doesnt happen as much.Certain players do look up and wait for the ball,it aslo depends on how fast you get to where the ball is going to drop of course.
You reviewed the PS3 version,so I guess with the animation issues and framerate issues it must look worse or happen more. I have a lot of minor issues with the game too,but it would take a while to list them all. Man the stuff listed in the text makes the wait for April harder,Im glad its using the show PS2 engine with enhanced graphics cause that leads me to believe it will play great. I'm glad they didnt go the Madden next gen route for their first next gen game. |

If I get a baseball game, I'm going with The Show. I figured it was either going to have good graphics and few modes (like NBA 07), or have poor graphics but everything the PS2 version has (which it looks to be). Next year, I expect the graphics to be great and really blow MLB 2k8 away (unless Take Two improves it somehow on PS3).
I took at the features list, and all I had to say was WOW.
