Thanks for the reply @PS3, but referring to others and a case study, I have a younger brother and two younger cousins for stuff like that

Sunny- just tried to use DMC as an example for something that wasn't necerssarily the "worst" game out there, but also had it's fair share of violence, blood etc. What would you all say to a younger relative (say, age 11) wanting to play GTA?

As for young teens (12-14 for example) playing GTA. I'd think it was the shagging of prostitutes that would cause me greater issue than the cartoon violence.

I think stated age ratings is a good thing but if parents deem their children mature enough they can knock roughly 4 years off. What I mean by that is an 18 game could possibly be given to a mature 14 year old. Likewise with a 15 rated game for 11 year olds.

I seem to remember playing mini games on the Amiga when I was about 14 where you played as a Penis and had to shoot sperm at a woman to remove her clothes or get her of or something like that and I'm not sure if that even had a rating. There were plenty of other games like that which were so much worse than anything I've seen on the last ouple of generations of games.

I know I've drifted the topic slightly from violence here.. sorry..
