Default Crackdown Demo Impressions

What can I say. Amazing demo! I've only done single player at the moment so I'll leave my impressions on co-op later on today (Bud is coming online for it)

I played the Saints Row demo awhile ago and it tries to be a GTA title, in fact it copies it down to the smallest details. While Crackdown is a title on it's own. Even though it's from the same person who did GTA, he's expanded on this open world "Sandbox" and succeeded. Framefate and visuals are perfect (I'm not running my 360 on a HD yet) but even with component cables on a reg tv it looks smooth and crisp. The colors really stand out with the little cell shaded characters they used. The peds in the game never go clones in the same area and that's a good thing. There's the GTA chatter from different people and never gets repetitive.

The control set-up is perfect and I think there will be a custom set-up when the main game releases on Feb 20th. There's no switch to a first person view for driving (There's a driving race similar to GTA races) and a first person in car camera would help alot.

The game does a advance power up system in this 1 hour demo so skills are learned quickly which showcases the abilities in the final version. One thing I did notice is that if you get high enough in-game on a building (or in my case the Ferris Wheel) and jump off. That strange stomach feeling from falling is there and it makes the feeling of this game even better.

The auto lock-on system gives damage choices to certain parts of the body and in the case of targeting a car, different parts such as the hood and tires. Reload is mapped to the other shoulder button and I stated before, a custom set-up should be there.

All in all, Crackdown demo is a amazing taste of what's to come when the full version releases. If you got the Xbox 360 and about 1.3gb of free HD space, you must down this demo.

On the end of the demo, there's a movie detailing some other types of characters and action. The surprise I got from it is they used a Dieselboy track "Vector Burn - Paradise Lost (D-Star Remix)" from the album The HUMAN Resource. This completely shocked me they would use my favorite artist track. Now I'm even more hyped!

Started to download it but it seems to be taking ages. How many can you play on multiplayer with at one time?

It's 2 co-op only. But from what I heave read, it's hard to get a bud to join in. It seems you can't invite a person on friends list, it's random. I'm checking the net to see if there's a way around it.

I set my alarm for 3:10am my time last night, started downloading it then went back to sleep lol.

I dl'd the demo (took several hours!) and played for about 5 minutes. Seems quite good and I look forward to seeing how co-op works.

I seriously cannot find my headset and so will be nonverbal later but I do intend to try and get on just after 8pm gmt anyway.

As for the battlestation game (or whatever it's name is), did you have any luck working out how you can play against specific people?

I don't think you can, with Crackdown or Battlestation, I think you just have to go on the game and hope the person you want to play with is the one who wants to join your game. We could give it a go later Gab if you fancy it?

As for the game, had a go this morning, must say it is pretty good, but I think I might hold off for now. Theres other games I want too and my money is seriously low.

I feel your money problems.

cAt, how did you get your sig?? I want one.

I had another quick offline blast of Crackdown and I'm really getting into it now. Running round and shooting feels like X-Squad

It's freaking sweet. I found out the issue with co-op. You have to be in the same gaming zone (underground and such) Co-op is sooooo bad ass. A bud and me setup about 15 cars on a walking bridge above a road, put some timed mines on the cars, then poof. A wall of destruction that was 20ft off the ground! One car stayed up about 10 seconds flying 60ft into the air on fire lol.

Do this gab in your sig:

Without the spaces in the [ ]

It should look like this:
