I can pretty much confirm that everyone in the U.S. called them cartridges. Cassettes were the audio ones, yes.

I've never heard of gaming media on cassettes. Anyone have a link to an example?

ahh.. remember the days when you woauld seriously wait 8 or 9 mins for a game to load, then just as it would start.. it would crash!

and you could have to start all over again!

I've never even heard of that before...

Can anyone explain the technology? How'd the data on the tapes make it to the graphic display?

um, probably not. I think you need a real techy nerd to give you specifics. I can't believe this isn't something you had in the US!

lol.. only joking! thanks Sunny for closing that thread! well at least asking for it, it was funny, then became very unfunny and tragic in the last two posts..

anyway y'all go to www.worldofspectrum.org there you will see the wonders of spectrum and its games.

also try http://www.worldofspectrum.org/WoSFAQ.html

and to explain the whole damn thing... http://www.geocities.com/ResearchTri...5/stk/STK.html

do you guys remember the YABASIC that Sony included in the ps2 when it first shipped its very first PS2's? (its a shame no one remembers that)... well that is basically what the Spectum games were first written in, it was a form of Basic, then it got more technical with Machine code.. lol. anyway, all that was jammed on to an audio cassette.....

RIP Speccy n C64
