Exactly my point Svosen! Although, it is something that has made me think a lot about the emulator. Some games it's going to work perfectly for, e.g. Final Fantasy games that don't really use the two bottom shoulder buttons. But there's games like MGS where it is used, and could cause problems. Possibly even causing them to avoid emulating it

I wouldn't worry too much. Look at Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. I was extremely worried about how well that game would play on the PSP, considering how wonderfully the first three (all on PS1) played with the dual analog. Turns out the PSP controls for DM were quite acceptible. Sure, it'd be nicer with two analogs, but it's doable.

On that note, why in the world did they go with only one analog on the PSP??? I've never really seen a proper explanation for that. Seems almost inexplicable, really.

Hmm... that seems a silly strategy for trying to break into a market. There's always room for improvement in electronics; no need to try to build it into the equation.

Question

Can Video Lan be installed on the system?

What about downloaded shows like Lost, etc.

How do HD shows that have beeb downloaded sound and look?

Hows the functionality of Open Office?

Can render programs like MAYA be installed?

How well do they work?

How long does it take to do renders as compared to a six hundred dollar home PC?

Will movies or game demos downloaded from the net;i.e. not from the Sony store; work?

When swapping out an 80 gig laptop hard drive that has movies on it.....do they work on the PS3?

What about music?;i.e. will music on a swapped hard drive work on the PS3?

Why did you mention that the cord on the six axis controller was short?

Can we add a cable extender to the six axis?

How is the sound when using the hdmi?

How well does the six axis work in the game Resistance?

Whats the intercooler for, how much does it cost and is it really needed?

Hows the SD card funcionality?

Well thats a few questions and I will post a few more later on.

EDIT: Ben.. you have tried the PS2 games on the ps3..... the GTA games ( i chose this as it has a host of problems on the ps2).. is the 'slow down' really sorted on the PS3? and is the draw distance better? as in when youre driving really fast, does it draw the graphics well before you reach that point?

obviously i dont care about these problems on the ps2, im just using it as a yard stick to see how other ps1/ps2 games will work on the ps3.

EDIT pt2: Ben you said that "what resolution the game supports. For example, Resistance only supports 720p". Just to make sure... you can play this on a normal TV yeah?

I haven't noticed any slowdown at all playing PS2 games; in fact, I could swear some move a mite faster than before. However, I knew going in that the PS3 in no way "upscales" old games (http://www.psxextreme.com/scripts/ps...asp?newID=458), so no, the draw distance in any GTA didn't change. And for the record, when I say I've experienced zero problems with any of the PS1 or PS2 games I've played (over 20 PS1 and 30 PS2 by now), that includes slowdown. I really, really despise slowdown.

And yes, Resistance runs on any TV just like any video game. What "support" means in this case is just what the game could, theoretically, take advantage of. So Resistance, unfortunately, can't take advantage of a true HD set that runs in either 1080i or 1080p, but Ridge Racer can. I'm stuck on a standard-def set with S-Video cables myself, and I still love the way all these games look. I just don't get the full experience without HD, that's all (they look SO sharp and clear on HD, it's incredible).
