go and read it, its an interesting read. But that doesnt mean the Japanese ps3 will not play UK disks, as its possible, but i really dont think its going to happen. im sure here at Psxe, we'll have a good faq on this sort of thing once the guys get their hands on one. but for now.. pop over to www.ign.com. still, trying not to be a killjoy here... at least you can buy all the American and Japanese PS3 games you want on Ebay.

There are so many PS3's on ebay UK at the moment. Prices ranging from £500 to £1000. How much fun would it be to know that they would not work properly over here.
Funny thing is though I thought they were region free, maybe I am just not up to speed enough ![]() |

if Sony made the PS3 region free.. EVERYONE would be talking about it.
there would be more conversation on that than the Blu-Ray, the Cell.. B/C... all put together. it would be the very first CD console ever to do that... thats all im thinking about, lol. but i could be wrong? i am usually wrong about a lot of things... just ask my GF ![]() Edit.. found this.. A spokesman for SCEE told BBC News, "The law is clear, and grey importing PS2, PSP or PS3 into the EU, without the express permission of SCEE is illegal. Therefore, we will utilise the full scope of the law to put a stop to any retailers who chose to do this." The spokesman noted that Japanese or American PS3 models would not play older European-sold software for the first two PlayStations, would not play EU Blu-ray films or DVDs, and would not be covered by any sort of warranty. "Ultimately, we're trying to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards," he added. ...seems that it was an idea, but doesnt look like it now. but that doesnt mean the hardware for this isnt in the PS3, it may just take a good hacker to get in there and manipulate it. but then would you want to spend £400 on something and let someone open it up? i wouldnt..
