I'm deeply distressed...see, when I play Final Fantasy games, I, like most serious gamers, take the time to deify my characters...for my FFVII game, in particular, I fought for months, scouring the world and mastering materia, and I was finally satisfied with their strength--everyone had their ultimate weapons, their level four breaks...I was pretty happy. I stopped playing for close to a year and, after having resumed again two days ago, I realized that my file was gone. So essentially I have nothing. I'd have to start all over, and I don't have that kind of time. I'm pretty upset at the moment. I guess there's always the SNES titles...
Speaking of FFVII, I think a discussion is in order. Who thought what about the plot? How did it change the genre? Who beat Emerald Weapon? (I think we should set up a fraternity). Just talk. It will help to assuage the pain of my loss.

I never beat any of the Emeralds, faaaar too time consuming. And you're not in the lone here. I once had a memory card with ALL of my RPGs saved on it; Chrono Cross, FFVII-IX, Legend of Dragoon, and a select others. Needless to say, I got a beta copy of Spider-Man for the PSX, I saved my progress on the card... And well, you know the rest. I lost EVERYTHING!

I beat both Ruby and Emerald Weapons. Powered Cloud up to the highest level and came close to the highest with two other characters, then constantly used regens to maintain Cloud, the other two died pretty fast, and i fought Ruby for like around thirty minutes with just Cloud. I was so proud of that victory i took a pic of my tv screen. Definitely an amazing battle, wouldnt want to do what it took to get to be able to beat them again because it was major time consuming. There just werent a lot of PS games at the time i was playing, and long after i beat the game i beat the Weapons. Also i found all the secret spots, etc, so the game is long over for me... Last played over five years ago...

I thought Ruby was pretty easy...a lot of people thought it was a pretty thorny battle, but all you needed to do was equip Cloud with a Mystile and you should have been okay...still, he was tough before I fought him a few times and experimented with his equipment. As for Emerald, I had a rough time before I learned to strip down my party's materia; once it clicked that "Aire Tam" was materia spelled backwards I started to tinker with my setup, and eventually I just took all the elementals off and stuck with KOTR, w-summon, HP Plus and Final Attack/Phoenix...it nullifies that threat of instant death posed by Emerald's Aire Tam Storm and, if you do it right, it should only do 3-4,000 damage points each time. Very handy.

I beat Emerald Weapon but never Ruby. Emerald wasn't too hard once i got Knights of the Round for all my characters and Mimic. Also Omnislash for cloud. But Ruby weapon was too hard. I just couldnt beat him. People told me he was easier the Emerald but i didnt see how.

The only weapon I never bothered with is the one in the desert (forgot the name).
The underwater one is fairly easy once you figure out a good materia combination (I forgot it, but I remember that it was pretty bad ass). You need a crap load of materia though... And I don't care much about my save games for RPGs once I've beaten the game, and left it there, untouched for months. That is, unless I level up every single character and do everything in the game... But I never do that. ![]() |

The desert one is Ruby, the water one is Emerald. Emerald was noticeably easier for me than Ruby, but fighting a huge boss with only one character can be that way!

I just started a new game in Final Fantasy VII two days ago. I'm 4 and 1/2 hours into it, and am suddenly remembering why I love these games. I haven't played a Final Fantasy in over a year (I beat FFX in January of 2002). It has been so long since I first played VII. It was my first Final Fantasy.
It does really suck when you lose game files. The first time I played VII I was 20 some hours into it, and my little brother replaced it's file with a Mission Impossible save. It was hard for me to suck it up and start all over.
