The crappy translations gets on my nerves in FFVII... to the point where I can't restart playing it anymore, even though I know it's good. Square's recent translations were godly (especially Vagrant Story, FFIX and FFX - for both FFs I'm factoring in the short translation time). Going back to the Sony translation is quite hard... It could've been so much better.

Hence why I would love a FFVII remake.

I think a FFVII remake would be good, for PS2. I had this problem once, i had Cloud on the highest level and others close, i was mastering my materia, especially KOTR and then it got deleted.
I read in a mag that there was an easy way to defeat Ruby, if you combined KOTR with HP Absorb and have everyone mastered mime and counter then its easy.

Wasn't Emerald the one under the water? I found him really simple. The only problem was the time limit, but that was countered once you got the Underwater materia. Ruby was the badass that took me a lot of effort.

As for card wiping, me and the other gamers in my house went through a real bad patch with that, thanks to FFIX. I'm not sure exactly how it happened but within the space of a week the game managed to wipe my card, my cousin's card and my brother's card. Each had our FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and Smackdown 2 saves on, so it wiped saves that had taken a hell of a lot of effort to compile. The only game out of those four that I would bother to play again is FFVII, but that doesn't even work anymore

I guess I just don't quite get it, are your save files vanishing into thin air? Are you saying that you accidently saved over them? Please explain.

i hate when i do something like that. sometimes i almost get to finish games but something comes up. so when i finally get some time to play them again, and i find that the card is erased or something, it sucks. i want to finish the game, but starting over is just too hard.

If you think memory cards get wiped easily, don't play old SNES games. I attempted to re-beat FFVI awhile ago, and it was ugly. I got to the breaking of the world three times, and my game got deleted at the same damn spot 3 times. I think it has something to do with the battery inside dying or something, and I think there is a way to fix it, I have just never tried. EGM claimed they would do an article on how to replace the battery over a year ago, and never got around to it. Also, I borrowed my friends copy of Zelda on SNES a few years ago, and it wouldn't boot, so I blew on the chip and ended up deleting his file with all of the hearts and everything all beaten. He got me back for it when I let him borrow my copy of FFIV for SNES. He took a game genie to it and deleted everything by putting in some wrong codes. Needless to say, I love the invention that is the memory card.
